He's a very good player I realised I shouldn't have really called this a 'young' Boomers team about five of the guys are vets but the rest of the team is made up by young guys. Three of the players are from the Hawks didn't seem to hurt them being undermanned against the Sixers last night :roll:

It doesn't appear the Jerome Randle to Sixers rumour is happening but unfortunately for him he's now stranded in Ukraine.

Tonight the Boomers defeated host nation Japan 80-64 in the FIBA WC qualifiers. Top scorers for the Boomers were Nick Kay with 15, Angus Brandt with 14 and Alex Mudronja and Kyle Zunic each scored 11 points.

In the NBL today despite a brave effort and leading most of the game the 36ers lost to the Sydney Kings 93-90 at home.

Also Jerome Randle made it out of Ukraine safely and is now back home in the US.

The Boomers won their third and final FIBA WC qualifying game tonight beating Chinese Taipei 90-71 in Japan. Nick Kay had a triple-double with 14p, 11r, 10a and Angus Brandt and Jaylin Galloway each scored 13 points.

36ers head coach CJ Bruton will miss both of the Sixers games this weekend due to Covid and instead assistant coach Jamie Pearlman will coach the team.

I don't think Casper Ware has actually signed yet just that they're in talks but agree it wouldn't make much sense unless it's for next season too.

Melbourne United have announced they've signed Yudai Baba again as an injury replacement for Callum Dalton who is out for the rest of the season. After playing on United's championship winning team last season Baba then played for Japan at the Tokyo Olympics and played this season in the G-League.

FIBA have announced Australia will host a World Cup Qualification 'bubble' featuring games between the Boomers, China, Japan and Chinese Taipei at John Cain Arena in Melbourne from June 30.

June 30 - Australia vs China

July 1 - China vs Taipei, Japan vs Australia

July 2 - Japan vs Taipei, China vs Australia

July 3 - Taipei vs China

The 36ers had a big win in Perth last night 82-70.

Also the NZ Breakers have agreed to release F/C Yanni Wetzell from his contract for the remainder of the season so he can sign with Spanish based EuroLeague team Baskonia. As his replacement Development Player Sam Timmins has been elevated to the roster for the rest of the season.
