The 2015/16 annual Players Poll results conducted by the NBL at the Blitz, if you're wondering players were given two votes in some categories.

The NBL Championship is headed back to Auckland and Josh Childress will be the 2016 NBL MVP, according to a poll taken by the NBL players at last week's pre-season Blitz.

In the poll, the New Zealand Breakers were nominated by 29.5 per cent of players to repeat as the NBL Champions in the upcoming season. If they were to go back-to-back, the Auckland-based franchise would claim an unprecedented fifth NBL title in the past six seasons.

Most Likely Teams to make the NBL Finals
78% - New Zealand Breakers
75% – Melbourne United
68% – Perth Wildcats
60% – Cairns Taipans
53% – Sydney Kings
48% – Illawarra Hawks

Most Likely Player to be NBL MVP
55% – Josh Childress (Sydney)
10% – Cedric Jackson (New Zealand)
5% – Chris Goulding (Melbourne)
5% – Brian Conklin (Townsville)

Most Exciting New NBL Import
52% – Hakim Warrick (Melbourne)
51% – Marcus Thornton (Sydney)
29% – Casey Prather (Perth)
27% – Stephen Holt (Melbourne)
16% – Jordair Jett (Townsville)
11% – Kenyon McNeail (Adelaide)

Best Returning NBL Player
55% – Chris Goulding (Melbourne)
34% – Julian Khazzouh (Sydney)
29% – Kevin Lisch (Illawarra)
26% – Kirk Penney (Illawarra)
19% – Nathan Jawai (Perth)

What are our chances this year Gozu? I see the bookies don't give us a chance

Not that great I don't think. But things can change during the season last season we were expected to finish closer to the bottom than top but we managed to land Brock Motum about 7-8 games into the season, struggled initially with him and then turned it on over the last third of the season to make the finals.

With the bookies, unlike say AFL, NRL or cricket they don't keep much of an eye on the NBL and some hardcore NBL fans make some good money betting on the league but keep it pretty quiet for obvious reasons although I remember one guy used to say he made a living solely off of betting on NBL games but I doubt that.

Although I'm not a gambling man I will say this though I'm very tempted to put a little something on the Hawks for the title those look like very juicy odds to me. Those odds look like they were done when the NZ Breakers still had Corey Webster but he's with New Orleans in the NBA at least for the time being assuming he doesn't make the team but if he does and they don't seriously replace him I don't think the Breakers will be legit contenders.

I think playoffs will be a huge ask this season for the 36ers. The losses seem to outweigh the gains. Ebi Ere was a great player 10 years ago but I'll be very interested to see if he's still got it at age 34, already had an injury.

Hope they do well this season because the NBL is actually looking halfway professionally run for the first time in ages.

Ordinary commentary but a better quality second quarter by the 36ers

Sloppy quarter but still a good lead

NBL has an App now which is great, for those without Foxtel they are streaming all games free this weekend. I'm watching Foxtel so not sure of the quality

Very strong dominant display by the 36ers against a very undermanned Breakers team without Abercrombie & Pledger. Good to see Hodgson do well for us too.

The NBL App is I think free stream for the first round and then pay after that.
