Well we crapped the bed there :( Guess we were due for a bad game. I fear we have very little chance against Spain, who are the 2nd best national team in the world. Send in Goulding to kick Pau Gasol in his injured calf.

A terrible way to miss out on a medal with a garbage call like that but the refs were rubbish all game both ways. Disappointing finish but a great game of basketball and the Boomers should be proud.

Spain 89 (Gasol 31, Mirotic 14, Rodriguez 11, Fernandez 10) def Australia 88 (Mills 30, Andersen 15, Broekhoff 13, Motum 12)

An interesting move by the Sydney Kings signing Chinese player Bo Liu to a development player contract. The 6'9" PF has been playing for the Shenzhen Leopards in China and the Kings have taken advantage of a new NBL rule allowing players within the FIBA Asia zone to be signed as locals without counting as an import. As a development player though he won't be on the actual 11 man roster and can only play in home games unless replacing an unavailable player from the playing roster.

The Cairns Taipans have announced the signing of their third import Nnanna Egwu a 6'11" Nigerian born American centre who played last season in the D-League. Egwu played some NBA pre-season games with the Orlando Magic in 2015 and comes recommended to the Taipans by former Perth Wildcats coach Connor Henry who is now an assistant coach with the Magic.

Tonight the Brisbane Bullets lost to the touring UCLA 94-91 in Logan. The Bullets were very undermanned missing 4 of their starting 5 and not only had Lucas Walker fill in for them but also a long since retired 40 year old Sam Mackinnon who looks like he's been in a good paddock.

Top scorers for the Bruins were Aaron Holiday with 17 and Bryce Alford & Isaac Hamilton each scored 16 and for the Bullets Daniel Kickert scored 15 and Anthony Petrie had 14.

I think it's pronounced Foo-kwon but I hope the Fox commentators do a bit research before calling a Cairns game ;)

Sports documentary maker and NBL media-award winner Lennon Cooper has made his first Adelaide 36ers documentary 'Golden Era: Adelaide 36ers in the 80's' available to watch for free on YouTube. It's feature length and runs for nearly two hours.

'Golden Era' was originally screened at Piccadilly Cinema in 2011.

A great move by the NBL announcing that NBL TV is back which will free for full season ticket holders of all clubs and will also be available for $5 per month. Every game of the 2016/17 NBL season will be shown live on NBL TV and and All-Access pass will allow subscribers to watch hundreds of classic NBL games dating back to 1979.

Excellent decision to get a streaming service back up and running for those without Foxtel.
