Won't start IMO.

agreed Fernandez has been brought in purely to knock down 3's and provide a spark with the bench unit on.

Be lucky to make the roster.

Wont make the roster, will end up in europe but most likely end up back in Aus within 4-5 years.

Exactly!

Will be interested to see if Kyle Singler ends up having much of a career as he was highly rated coming out of high school but wound up being drafted in second round.

I also am a lil worried about Walker. MJ loves college stars but not a lot of them go on to be great NBA players in the modern era, as for Bismak his Defensive numbers were pretty impressive in the best league outside of the NBA, but it could go either way, you would dread ever putting the ball in his hands on offense. Im mostly looking forward to Rubio, D.Williams and Brandon Knights first seasons, Knight is a highly intelligent great shooting guard, Pistons were lucky to nab him, but most of all Kanter is the guy I expect to put up the big NBA numbers straight off. Great post moves and more then NBA ready body wise

Can I ask, what is no doubt a very stupid question, but in all seriousness, why would you draft someone that you have no intention of playing? Is it just in case they are any good?

I honestly don't understand...

I watch a bit of NBA, but not to the level of you guys, so I'm interested why they would follow this strategy..

Cheers

Exactly right, they are "raw" potential picks, as in they are very limited in capability but posses the required athleticism and size to be something in the future, so they get stashed away in another league to see if they develop skill wise enough to come into the NBA, if not they become journey men most of the time between different leagues around the world

Thanks no_remorse28, that makes sense I guess...

Now to try and get my head around drafting someone, then immediately on-trading for someone drafted with a worse pick and then a pick in the 2nd-3rd round in 2029 (or whatever ;) )

Since those picks are almost always used on players who get dropped off the list NBA clubs are happy to pick a raw one and see what happens in a few months of training camp. You won't get a star, but you might get a half decent role player if he really improves a lot. Which is something 4 year college vets don't tend to do much.

NBA trading is very strange, often it's a case of freeing up cap space and those other late order picks just an extra sweetener to make it look better. There's a lot go on behind the scenes, I'm sure most of those draft night trades are more or less worked out much earlier. Then there's the looking towards the coming drafts and seeing what's coming (much harder these days with so many players coming from high school) but also the new CBA is seeing a few organisations trying to give themselves as much flexibility as they can.

Every one apparently were trying to get more picks in round 1 for next year, The class is stacked and is tipped to be the best they have had in a while

the class coming through has some huge talent aswell, Sullinger is not tipped to be a star of the league, was just good compared to this draft class coz it was weak, Perry Jones is going back to. but yeah nbadaft.net is a great place to read about next years class, some exciting talents

Next year will be massive in terms of player movement. Strong free agent list, strong draft, new CBA in place, so all the pieces are there to see a massive amount of changes in the 2012 offseason. There'll be something for everyone who is willing to part with something. A team like the bulls might find the chance to pick up that second scorer they need, a team like Miami might see a missing piece off the bench, even teams like Cleveland might see a chance to trade in a big name to go with their two rookies from this draft.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at Dwight Howard's 2012-2013 team? I get this feeling that no improvement this year will see him joined by a big name or join a new team somewhere.

3 teams come to mind who will instantly chasse D12. The Lakers will come calling straight away. and will offer up anything for him, there lust for big men is well known. I believe the Heat will look to team him with Wad and Lebron at the expense of Bosh in a sign and trade, and the Bulls will look to add him to D Rose

but once the lockout is over and we can move forward, it will be very exciting to see what moves are made, who knows we may even see the real A.I back in the league ;)

Just watching Jordans 69 point game against Cavs. His jump shot is just smooth and once he jumps its so sweet to watch.

After one of the best NBA seasons in recent memory, which included the most teams in contention for the title for a while, lots of young superstars playing great and lots of great and not so great story's (depends which side of the fence your on with the Heat). The League will officially be in Lockout in 2 hours time. Thank you America for sharing your great league with us, then taking it away when it has only just truly recovered its place in the world market since the 99 lock out. Hope it does not take another 10 years after this to get to the level we got to witness this season.

SORT IT OUT . . . . . . . that is all
