I'm a shattered man ...... Hopefully we can go one step further next year... Clearly beaten by a better team. Also glad to see Kidd get the ultimate prize.. Seemed like a lifetime ago I was pulling his rookie cards out of my basketball card packets as a kid

Congratulations to Dallas.
You know Nowitzki would have been thinking to himself that it may possibly be his last chance.

Said awhile back that I feel the Clippers will have to keep Blake Griffen at all costs but also feel that their centre - DeAndre Jordan - is going to be a real player of the future as well but he is a restricted free agent this offseason and will command some good offers so it will be interesting to see if the Clippers match any offer he gets.
Griffin certainly wants him to stay and IMHO it's more imperative that they keep him over Eric Gordon.

i was watching an espn 30 for 30 doco bout a young man named Len Bias, was the best in the usa in his time when he was drafted in 1986 by Boston... died the same night he was drafted of a drug affected heart attack. was a tragic story. i never knew about it, so it was interesting.

I remember seeing that one as well surprised people that it was drug related. Wasn't his style. Think the friend who was there said it was the first time he used or there abouts and he dies from it

Is the Iverson one where he was sent to trial for a racist attack? I watched a little bit of it. He seemed very gangstar very lucky to play NBA in the end.

Of those 30 For 30 doco's I think the 'Once Brothers' one was probably the best. It's about the once close relationship between Vlade Divac and the late Drazen Petrovic and how Drazen died in that car crash when he was a star at the time in the NBA before they were able to reconcile. I freely admit the eyes did well up watching it because I still remember the day at school when he died in '93 and how upset a Croatian friend was about it.

By the looks of it ESPN are replaying Once Brothers this week with it being shown at around 7:30pm Thursday & Sunday night. The Reggie Miller one was excellent and the Jordan baseball and Iverson ones were good too.

Also that particular draft was interesting in that not many of the first rounders ended up having much of an impact but the likes of Dennis Rodman and Jeff Hornacek lasted until the second round and the late Drazen Petrovic - who appeared to be on his way to being a star at the time of his death in 1993 - lasted until the third round.
The NBA was known to have a bad drug problem at the time and probably didn't improve as much as the league would have you believe in the future with the death of Reggie Lewis in 1993 being a particular case where certain facts were overlooked seeming to protect other people's interest.
The story of Hank Gathers is also a tragic one - not insinuating anything here - who would likely have been a top draft choice in 1990 if he had lived.
The death of Bias certainly had an effect of former Maryland alumni in Elmore Spencer and Buck Williams.

The man expected to be the No.1 pick in this week's NBA Draft says he wants to represent the Boomers at the London Olympics, despite the fact he only lived in Australia for two years.

Kyrie Irving, 19, was born in Melbourne but moved to the United States when he was two years old and has become the hottest property in the big-money world of the NBA.

On Friday, Irving is tipped to be the No. 1 pick taken by Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA draft - the second Aussie in seven years after Andrew Bogut was selected No.1 pick by Milwaukee Bucks in 2005. It will deliver Irving instant riches with a guaranteed three-year deal worth over $15 million, and possibly new hope for the Boomers' medal chances at London next year.
