Always thought Magic Johnson was a better comparison to Lebron then Jordan. And IMO Lebron has a bit of work to do to catch up to Magic.

Pretty tight first quarter but a few more shots were hit in the 2nd.

Bosh is playing well but Wade is struggling.

Kidd's alley pass to Chandler was amazing before. Hopefully JET continues to hit his shots and the Mavs run this out.

Wade is struggling with his shoulder I can't see much influence from him

Part of Jordan's appeal was how marketable he was. I don't think anyone ever said a bad word about the guy. James might be the guy you'd design if you were making an athlete, but Jordan was the guy you'd design if you wanted promotion. The guy had flair galore in his play, was a model citizen and stuck by his team. Then he turned into a perennial winner, retired and came back a winner.

He was what we thought Tiger Woods was 2 years ago before we knew about Tiger. Had he been playing today, Jordan would be earning massive money from the game obviously, but his off court earnings would be incredible.

Model citizen who stuck by his team?

Obviously haven't listened to many interviews with past Bulls players.
He was known to be extremely "Kobe-like" in his days.

Phil Jackson said to Kobe exactly what he said to Michael, when they first entered the league in their first few seasons"

"Don't get angry because your team mates aren't as good as you, get angry because they don't try as hard as you"

Screw the "jumped ship" argument.
Apart from the fact he spent an hour on TV building up to "the decision" .. who cares. It doesn't change anything.

Completely agree, Put it in footy terms, is Nathan Buckley a nothing for not having won a premiership, or Robert Harvey, Brad Johnson Gary Ablett Snr the list goes on. Lebrons Numbers changed basketball because not since the Big O has someone been so damaging in all catagories

Nobody's ever perfect and liked by everyone, but his public persona is as close to it as anyone is.

Jordan was also told if he wanted to win he had to become more selfish.

But someone's popularity and whether they change clubs makes zero difference to how good a player they are. And while winning championships shows some measure of a player's ability it isn't the main way to separate the best. Unless you also want to concede that the entire winning roster are better players than D. Rose is of course.

Pippen has taken a step back from his comments too, he was a bit brash initially.

I wouldn't even begin to say who's better until LeBron's career is finished.

Who's record? He is on my record.

Rose has plenty of time.

Do you guys think Howard will leave when he's a free agent?

On Jordan and his supposedly clean skin image I think most knew MJ was far from that. Jordan's shots at teammates in the past are infamous (I think even decked Steve Kerr once in practice) and guys like Luc Longley have in the past commented about how much Jordan used to abuse them. Jordan's ultra-competitiveness was even copied by Kobe in the first half of his career in his obsessive attempts to imitate Jordan.

Not only was Jordan well known for all that but his massive gambling benders also became known to the public during his playing days. To the point he even went on gambling trips to Vegas on days off between playoff games. Then there were all the revelations of him cheating on his wife while on the road throughout his career where he supposedly even had a mistress on the side in another state that he kept hidden for years and might have even fathered a child with her.

Jordan was also notoriously known for his tightness and I remember maybe 5-6 years ago when he and Barkley were on Oprah in a show decicated to some new Jumpman fashion line of Jordan's that Barkley recalled a story when they were driving along and saw a homeless guy on the side of the street and Barkley told Jordan to pull over. Jordan kicked up a fuss but relented. Barkley went over to the guy and went to give him $100 and Jordan immediately grabbed Barkley's hand and chastised him saying don't give him any money if you give them money for nothing they won't learn anything he needs to work for it. Barkley essentially told Jordan to piss off and gave the guy the money and Jordan said something to Barkley and then stormed off back to the car in a pissed off mood.

In saying that, he's the all time best for mine.

But it's not daylight to the rest :)

Jordan, Chamberlain, Russell, Kareem, Bird, Dr J, Magic, West, Oscar... there's a fair argument for a lot of them to be up there as well.

And when their careers are complete, LeBron and Kobe will lay a claim to be in the top dozen or so players of all time.

As will Tim Duncan. Probably top 25 at worst. Probably in the top three best power forwards ever. Even if he is boring.

JOrdan mezmerized me with his air time.

He had a style the way he played.
Signature dunks, tongue out, fadeaway jumpers, chewing gum.

Just look through the highlights reel.
Yes LeBron is a magnificent athlete, but jordan was a ballerina on the court.

I love LeBron he's my current favourite player... but Jordan is on a pedestal no-one has gotten close too.
