Basketball Australia have announced the Boomers team that will be playing FIBA Asia Cup qualifers on Thursday February 20 against Indonesia and Sunday February 23 against Thailand in Traralgon, Victoria.

Amazing that some of them cannot get on the court for their teams are going to be wearing Australian colours

The Brisbane Bullets have re-signed Sam McDaniel to a 2 year deal after he missed most of this season due to injury.

Is that reflective of the NBL being so strong with imports or the Aussie players being very average at the moment?

Probably both to be honest.

On reflection the finals are on so those teams wouldn’t want their players playing in these games which I understand

Just thought some others like a Humphries or DJ would be selected

Whilst Dech is our best defensive player I don’t think he deserves it this year.
Defence isn’t Harrell’s strongest part of his game but I thought he should have won it for his blocking and rebounding this year

Quite honestly with our lack of defence I think Murray Magpie was unlucky

The Boomers had a good win over Thailand this evening.

In NBL news the league has announced the sale of the Tasmania JackJumpers to Altor Capital a private equity firm based in Brisbane. The 51% purchased stake values the team at $35 million and the firm will assume full ownership in two years time.

As part of the deal, 25% of the net profit from the sale will be shared among all NBL teams, sources said; each franchise will receive approximately $900,000 as part of this transaction. These payments would be staggered for when each stage of the transaction is processed.
