Local boy and Melbourne United veteran Brad Newley has also announced he will retire at the end of the season. Played for the Boomers at the 2008 & 2012 Olympics and played his best years in Europe after starting out in the NBL with a bang at Townsville.

https://nbl.com.au/news/newley-calls-ti ... nal-career

A real shame he never played for the 36ers both initially in 2004 when the 36ers bungled his contract with Ian Stacker then managing to lure him to the Crocs and then after being drafted in the 2007 NBA Draft the Houston Rockets told him to go and play in Europe so he exercised the Euro out-clause in his NBL contract he had just signed with the 36ers and ultimately never did play a game for us. Great career though and supposedly was a big fan favourite during his four years playing at Gran Canaria in Spain.

Also the 36ers have announced that club legend and inaugural captain Peter Ali will be inducted into the club's Hall of Fame. Ali won two NBL championships with West Adelaide in 1982 and then Adelaide in 1986 and played for the Boomers at the 1980 Olympics.

So who coaches the 36ers?
Whilst Ninnis did a good job I’d still like us to search elsewhere for a new coach.
I know the easy and cheap option is to keep him but I think we need to move on from him.

I’d prefer Scott not to be the coach, need someone with a better record and outreach to players especially imports.

Agree, and not Goorjian either. 20 years ago yes, but not now.
Need a coach who is familiar with the modern game.

Didnt he coach illawara to 2nd & 3rd finishes about 2 or 3 years ago. Pretty sure he's familiar with the modern game
