As a member, am way more worried about this than what the spectators at LIV did on the side of Fairways. people who have never played before should stick to Glanville!!

East Course, 10.02 - will be on the look out!

I feel sick and have lost sleep thinking about it.

About doing more damage to the course in a few hours than LIV did over a few weeks??

No, about being disruptive to the members and I don't want to do that at all.

I appreciate the the opportunity to play on courses like this and I'm fully aware how hard I'll find it, let alone an absolute novice.

Carts help us, so does some frank conversations I've had with the rest of the group, as in if I tell you to get in, sit down and move you'll do it.

Are they likely to run up in jeans and t-shirt?

And being at the home of LIV they might think Golf But Louder and roll up with a ghetto blaster

Nope, very well versed in the etiquette. Fortunately the other bloke I'm playing with is a member of a club in Canada and has emphasized the expectations.

I'd say two of us will play the 1st, the other two can join in after.

Sneaking off early today to play a casual 9 at the Vines before sundown, haven't been there since March so looking forward to it, have pulled the old 2 iron out and see if I can still hit it and try to land on more of the short stuff from the tee.

A couple of weeks back I went and played McCracken, hit 42 on the front and 52 on the back, typical from me when I lay 18 lately  only hit 3 fairways so Driver it miles off it at the moment. While McCracken is still a good challenging track, I remember it from the 90's when its condition was pristine. Would love them to do a Mt Compass type do-over and make it a premium course again.

Booked in for McCracken in 2 weeks I think. Last time I was there in October the members were talking about how the Clubhouse was either being demolished or getting renovated and extended etc. Plus there was talk of the course changing.
But at one stage it would have been one of the best course down south.

I was looking forward to the day, still am, but not with as much excitement as before. We have a voucher for 4 rounds + 2 carts. I know my ability, average but I play ( not often enough mind you ) and we were taking some guests, one plays of 21 so again, capable. That's all gone to shit and I'm now going with two blokes who have never, I repeat, NEVER played golf before. F*ck me.

Where’s the review?

Next business day... and if the game was ugly it may not get a mention at all[emoji3]

I did drive rather quickly past the course in case an errant shot flew out

1 East, currently a par 3 due to the LIV car park presented a challenge.

2 groups of 4 just ahead, on the green and the next tee. 3 groups of 4 waiting to go. 20 players.

We get called ahead of groups 3,4,5 and hit up. Just two of us. We go long (other bloke) I hang on right edge. We all putt. We par it.

On the second tee I say to group 1 and 2 of 5 ( $5 or 10 Friday Stableford comp ) "Let us go". We don't hit up, we just drive up in carts. For the rest of the day they stay a full hole behind. We never pressure the group ahead. 4 hours flat.

We kicked a couple, the two novices made good on 4-8 irons by days end and 3 at the club, 8 at the Alberton and I'm seriously keen on the pizza heading this way.

LIV made no impact, if it did I'd love to play it untouched. Every hole has generous landing zones, every hole eats you up and spits you out if you miss the middle of the dance floor.

Very impressive set up. Pale $7.50 pint.

8.5/10

Vines in ripping nick, better than in summer, played back 9 start with a par on the 10th & then the hard 12th, in between a quadruple bogey on 11th

Ended up with a reasonable 45, got 4 pars without hitting a GIR which I was happy with, the other holes stunk.

The 2 iron worked magnificently off the tee, only used it twice on the 12th and 15th - both went just over 200m and importantly were in the middle of the fairway, it hasn't deserved sitting in the shed for the last 15 years, will stay in the bag.

For those that haven't been there for a while, the big tree behind the 1st green and the one between the 10th & 12th greens have been pulled out, also doing a small extension outside the pro shop, not sure whats going on.

i just picked up my Club Advantage card too, so will be out there soon

Flaggy

started on the 10th and just battled away with 15points on that 9. may have salvaged 17 if i didnt pick up a couple of times.
then move onto the back 9 birdie, par, bogey, par, par, bogie, par, and a disappointing scrub on the 8th. greenside bunker in 3 and first one stayed in so picked up and moved on. was in perfect spot. 100m middle fairway. Gap wedge and just pulled it  finished off with a 2 putt par for 22points on that 9

37 overall and could have easily been 40
