While the course is really nothing special, it is in pretty good nick for this time of year. The recent rain, plus the 40mm that fell in February has done a treat.

By memory it's $25 green fee's midweek, and anyone can get on the course pretty well anytime other than Wed, Thurs & Sat mornings.

Only 40 minutes up the freeway, and worth a look, even just for a change of scenery.

Dont sell the course short there corona... have always enjoyed playing there, even if has been in the rain every time!

As it is my home course I didn't want to bang on about it, and say that it should be on the roster for the next Aussie Open either!

My brother lived in Maccy and we played there almost weekly back when the "old" clubhouse worked on the honor box system, that's some years ago now. Haven't been up there for about 6 years, but I don't recall a time that I've not enjoyed Echunga.

Well, once, when it was about 38° and we saw four snakes in 4 holes...

Gee Booney that's going back a fairway (no pun intended)..... It's 18 holes now, the old clubhouse, has been, or soon will be demolished. Only 4 snakes, they were quieter back then!

I've played the 18, the "new" clubhouse was barely settled in the dirt then though.

Thanks for the tip on Echunga lads, went up Sunday morning and barely saw anyone else on the course...

...but that was probably because of the heavy fog! ;)

Greens & Fairways were in good nick, but the main thing I noticed was how the scrub undergrowth has been cleared out so I think we only lost one ball for the day!

And I must admit I didnt even go look for it after I saw how far my drive ricocheted into the scrub on 14... just re-loaded a provisional and kept going....

I'll bet this makes a big difference when it gets busy, smart move by the club!

Nah I played skins against my brother so I have no idea. No need to discuss the final score

It wasnt pretty though, we struggled early on with the heavy dew on the greens. Are you allowed to sweep away the dew before putting?

I played Sunday morning at Echunga as well with a group of lads. We hit off at 10am, the fog was completely gone and only a bit of dew on the greens by that stage. Have to agree it was fairly quiet on the course. Warmed up on the back 9, and the first few beers went down a treat at the 19th.

No. Sand and Leaves yes. can repair pitch marks in your line but not scuff marks from shoes or putters.

In very good condition, lets be fair, in this weather it's pretty easy to grow grass!

But, with respect the the green keepers, it is in very good condition. I'm playing again this Friday, much cooler conditions. Looking forward to it as last Friday was right up there as far as player discomfort went!

Really rate the course too. A little confusing in a couple of spots where the 1st green and 2nd tee aren't adjacent, again on 5 and 6 I think, it's not overly well sign posted as well from 12 to 13, but you can find it.

Greens were really tricky, just the most subtle of angles really made the ball move, found them hard to read at times but that might have just been pin placement on the day.

I hit them ok, had some serious pitch marks to repair with a few 8 irons and a couple of 7 irons that pleased the group. One lad I took plays hockey and *BANG* does he smack them. Nothing like a conventional golf swing, no locked grip, but he generated some serious club head speed. We measured one drive at about 285 from tee to ball....dead centre.

We just played ambrose, was the quickest way around with 4 part timers and we ended up +2. Not bad given the amount of long par 4's on the course. If it was closer to home I could see reason to make it the home course.

Had a lesson with Paul Spargo this morning. My first lesson, not sure how much they are supposed to cost but I paid $50 for half an hour.

Really good bloke though, gave me several basic pointers which make me feel completely unco trying to hit the **** thing but I'm sure that with all swing/grip adjustments feel like for a while at least.

Played The Vines on Good Friday, first two groups off. Perfect conditions & the course was in schmick order.
Great way to start the long weekend (having 39 points helps 8)).
