Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Ok take 2 (accidentally deleted my own post last night) may have had a few beers.

About 30 odd RSL golfers at Bundoora (local Track) for 2nd round of club champs - Stroke. I didn't play in the first round.

I advised the handicapper my last official mark was 18, and I doubted I would play to it. So they gave me 18, provisionally.

Paired with another 18 marker, a bloke off 20, and a guy on 36. All nice enough blokes, and we had a good day. Plenty of banter about the place, guys hanging shyte on their mates. Normal golf group stuff.

Started with a triple bogey 7, double bogey 6, before a par on the 3rd hole. A horror quadruple bogey on the uphill par 3, and I am looking like a dead set mug.

The 6th hole is a straight forward, and short par 4 - 245 metres. I waited til last to hit off, as I thought, if I catch this right I could drive the hole. Started to feel like a dick standing about waiting, the group in front putting out. So bugger it I will have a hit, I probably wont make it..... Creamed it, one bounce onto the edge of the green. I had hit up on the President, Secretary & Treasuer of the club! Good way to meet the committee, umm sorry chaps. I was fined later for the indiscretion. Did make birdie here though.

Hit a decent shot on the par 3 8th, won the NTP

So despite 3 pars and a birdie on the front went out in 49.... too many "others".

Made 3 on the par 3 10th. Then another bloody 7 on the 11th. The 12th hole longest drive, miss the fairway 15 metres in front of the marker.

14th hole is nearest in 2 shots (drive & chip) Another shortish (albeit slightly uphill) Par 4 - of 315. Smash driver. 73 metres in. Flick the 56 degree wedge to 8 foot. Put the marker out thinking I had that one in the bag. Rolled in the birdie put for good measure.

Hit best drive of the day down 15 (No 1 Ranked hole) long Par 4, had 175 in still, and tug a 4 iron left, several chips & putts later I card an 8..... stupid game.

All in I shot 95 for a Net 77, so mid field.

Collected 2 balls for the NTP's. Great day out, All up $35 which is green fees, comp fees, Plus BBQ Lunch. Preso's back at the RSL, and a hours worth of "free" drinks.... Can't loose.

Back out in 3 weeks at Whittlesea (not Greg) a course I have not played before.

We got it for about that due to the greens. Usually a bit higher though. Well worth it

Freeway Golf - Balwyn in Melbourne.

Played with a mate today.

Opened with a triple bogey 7.

A lot of very short par 4’s.

Out in 43, back in 38. Driver and sand iron in on too many holes for mine. Average track.

Still take an 81 off the stick as well as sinking piss since noon.

Working from home tomorrow.... will be a quiet day!

Mt Compass

Golf was a little rusty.

We got bumped up the order so not even a warm up swing or putt!!!

Course still in good condition.
Greens were a little slow, which was a surprise.

Weather was alright. Although the back 9 the wind picked.

Highlight 17 and 18 crunched 2 beautiful drives. Group ahead reported on the 17th I hit the 'next tee' sign in middle of fairway about 15m short... if it missed that it may have rolled through or stayed on the green...

A side note I swear the rough just sucks balls from the edges of the fairway to feed on[emoji1787][emoji1787]

It was $60. Greens on 1, 2, 11 and 13 are very average hence the discounted price. Rest of the greens all good. Super fun track. We played in a group of 6 and took a heap of beers with us. Definitely recommend after a day at the Dunes

Good info chaps, thanks. They have a deal where you can play all day golf for $140, wonder if that includes the new short course as well? That might be the way to go for us.

2 mates now coming over to play so we have a foursome, have booked the accommodation at Lost Farm that night.

Royal Willunga this morning.

Driver behaved itself for the most part today, that's always a pleasing sign.
Putting was a mixed bag as per normal.
Sunk a massive par putt on the 2nd, right to left up the hill. Just to make the early start worthwhile.
Few other holes the ball rolled over the edge which could have turned the day from reasonable to exceptional.
Ended up with 1 wipe, 6 pars and 32pts

Last Sunday - RSL Golf Day - Whittlesea.

Tee times were ridiculous o'clock, like 7.05am. We waited on the first tee for the sun to come over the hills so we could at least see where our opening shots went.

Whittlesea is a near country course to Melbourne, North East of the city, heading towards Kilmore. Typical country track, and is apparently all maintained by the members. So for that I give them credit. That said tee's and fairways were ordinary & the greens were ok.

Stableford - had 18pts on the front, which included a wipe on the short par 3 second hole. 2 balls into the drink. Took on the water carry on the Par 5, and had 3 iron in. The long Eagle put was ok, the birdie try from 5 foot was awful, walked off with Par.

To the back side, and the 10th is an awful hole. Downhill dogleg Par 4. Shortish - hit 4 iron to the corner, then shhhhaaaaannnnkkked my second to god only knows where.

Then the course characteristics changed. Holes 11-18, were almost like playing on a different track. Longer holes, better fairways, more challenging. So much so, I had 11 pts on the back 9, another shhhaaaaannnnnkkk not helping, came home in an Ambulance.

No collects this time around, having snared NTP's, and the dive/chip hole first time out. Hit a good drive on the Long Drive hole, to come up anout 8 metres short of the marked.....put out by the club champ off 7....

Back to the RSL for beers, bbq & bullshit.

Shite golf, good day though despite that.

Victor harbor
Lovely, fresh 2.5° start.......
Conditions were ideal. Little to no breeze to worry about. The only concerns were avoiding Skippy!
The golf was somewhat quite handy, which is pleasing.
The course itself is in good condition for the most part.
The wheels fell off a bit in the last few holes but managed to get 37pts on the board.
Loved the fact that on a par 4 my approach leaked right and ended behind a tree pin high... ffs

Ha ha - I lost a club championship on the 18th at Victor a long time ago, all square going up the last, I hit a drive just left of the fairway and it wedged in one of those 'Black Boy' plants. unfknblvbl.

Just a little bit either side would have been suitable. But managed to miss the tree roots and get onto the green.
The 17th was my grief.
Found the drain hazard[emoji1787][emoji1787] still recovered for a point.

Today's effort at Willunga

Gee whizz, the weather was ominous throught the morning and it looked like it was gonna bucket down at any stage. But got through dry.
Pulled out a few clubs in the carpark and left them in the boot.
So went with Driver, 5w, 6,7,9,G,56 and putter. Less clatter, less decisions to make, but can still make the same silly errors[emoji1787][emoji1787]
Driver was fairly solid again until 17th.
On the 18th I pushed the drive a tad to right and ended up at the base of a bloody tree.
Had a few practice shots and on one of them the toe of the club caught the ball and it popped out.... [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]but it didn't end up too bad so just kept going. Wasn't gonna make much of difference.
Putting was back to its usual crap.
Hit a few handy approach shots for a change.

Finished with an 86 which brought me back to 71.
