Fade to Black should've been released commercially, probably a bit to morbid though.

Sanitarium, Harvester of sorrow, disposable heroes, Master of Puppets, For whom the bell tolls and the Unforgiven were probably up there with my favourites.
Used to love the Garage Days revisited disc too

Whilst it comes post-Black Album, and contradicts a bit of what I said earlier, I'm actually quite a fan of "Load". A return to some extent to the longer epic songs that they are master of, some darker lyrical themes, and some great grooves.

Most of my mates were right into Sepultura etc. when they were jamming so it was nice to hear something a bit softer like Metallica.

Post-Black and despite popular opinion, I'm a fan of Death Magnetic. Whilst Load is also very good, I think DM is the pick of the "modern" post-Black Metallica offerings.

It's a problem many bands have, one song gets airplay over and over and it begins to boil your piss as soon as you hear it despite having known and loved the song/artist for potentially decades. ie - Stairway to Heaven, Khe Sanh, etc etc

Yes, agreed. Again, epic songs, dark lyrics, but with the harder metal edge reminiscent of earlier classic albums. Plus Kirk Hammett is finally let off the leash to play a guitar solo once again.

Better riffs, more bass driven and much better production than St Anger which is a pity as I think St Anger has some good tracks. Frantic and Invisible Kid could have been so much better for the tinny popping snare Lars was using or how it was produced.

Rubbish tin lids miked up with a condenser microphone from an early 1980s radio-cassette player.

These recent pay rises for state MPs.

I understand they work hard but those salary increases in this current economic climate can't be justified.

Three weeks to get parts for my AC so that it works again.
Oh well, at least it will be ready for January's heat waves.

...and they try and justify it by saying it's not a pay rise but an offset for the parliamentary allowances they no longer get.

So, hang on! They take away the allowances but just get a pay rise instead!!!!

Like when the GST replaced the myriad of sales taxes with a flat tax rate, the excise on booze and fags was increased to cover what would have been a huge decrease in government takings. Then they justified it with "it's not a tax, it's an excise".

The Mary said it was a message specifically for me.

Then I was like "Ooooohhhh. (Insert Boons real name) from (insert Boons workplace). I know him"
