It was SA Power networks.

I didnt' abuse them - but I did use the F bomb a lot. THeres a massive tree about 20m away, if that. It's been there since Jesus was a boy, longer than any power lines would've been there anyway. The branches of said tree have been hanging over these power lines since I was a kid.

Any way, as it turns out, some good samaritan decided to ring SA Power networks last night because there were sparks from the tree touching the powerlines and it was decided that 3am was a good time to prune a tree with a chainsaw, rather than waiting 3 hours as any wind had well and truly stopped when I went outside so there was no danger.

Lets just say that the council will be getting an absolute bollocking from me (and probably about 2 dozen other people) today for not keeping the trees sufficiently pruned.

All this made worse as a fell over my laundry basket getting out of bed and faceplanted the floor

I would sat your abuse towards the council is justified.

SAPN were just doing what they need to do to firstly make the situation safe and secondly ensure power is on.

took me an hour. Would normally take 35-40 max. At the minute I have

Roadworks at the cop shop intersection
roadworks on Darley Road next to the interchange
roadworks on Greenhill Road
Roadworks on Churchill Road
and they'll be starting to close of the city in the next couple of weeks.

So I physically won't be able to get to work with roadwork delays.

Council is not responsible for pruning trees near power lines. That maintenance is solely on SAPN I'm pretty sure.

Oh yes the North East works at Holden Hill. My mate lives in Windsor Gardens and he received all the info about the plans. It was hillerious the justification for some of the changes.

HahHha an average of 2.57 cars at 1.77 per hr.

Took me 35 minutes on the bike, the second best way to start the day, and I slept like a baby.

no....but sometimes people that are frustrated and angry can just throw themselves onto bed.

and I assume you were highly frustrated and angry at the 3am wake up and then the following washing basket trip.

1) I'm not home during the day, the power wasn't actually out before they got there, they switched it off to cut the branches (as they told me)
2) Again, the tree has hung over those powerlines for as long as i can ever remember, there was no wind when I went outside at 3.15am
3) Nothing fell on the ground, except for the branches after the branches were cut down at 3am.
4) Give me your address and I'll go to Kennards and hire one, then come and serenade you on a school night and see how you like it ;)

At first, I actually thought the noise was the dick who lives across the road - he's got one of those bicycles with a motor on it - sounded like him burning up and down the street and only got up to look to see if it was him.

I wonder how many peoples alarm clocks would have been reset last night?

Someone could have lost their job, then their family, then developed an ice addiction, then died of pneumonia in a ditch somewhere.

Thanks SA Power Networks.

who uses alarm clocks still anyway?

the only one a sparking power line should stop your alarm is if you get electrocuted by one of the falling powerlines and it destroys your phone.
