What, no life guards saying one at a time.
Was this sit abandoned because they built the aquatic centre in North Adelaide or was it because they wanted the site for the festival centre.

I would have done that jump a few times about then.
My first formal swimming lessons occurred there in a primary school group in about 1954.

IIRC correctly the place was getting a bit run down and in need of a lot of maintenance and it was decided to build the new pool instead, but alternative uses for the old site were possibly already in mind. I never did go to the new pool.

One of my memories of the old pool was meeting a well known 20-something stripper/dancer there when I was about 16, and applying her sun tan lotion.

Bully, it looks like there were two roundabouts there?
The new set-up wasn't as innovative as has been spruiked, if that's the case.

shows how we've come full circle, so to speak... we've recently gone back to this set up.

some wanker traffic engineer was probably paid big $$$$$ to come up with the solution too ;)

The story is that having given up on paying consultants to come up with a solution, staff at the transport department were asked to come up with something. A regular staff member, your everyday, garden-variety public servant, came up with the idea of two roundabouts, surprising everyone with its simplicity. And...it worked.
