$28.50 for an 350g Certified Australian Angus Beef Rump cooked perfect medium, with Steakhouse chips and salad bar. Mrs Boon went the same, just murdered it for longer on the plate.

Steak was perfectly cooked to both my and her-indoors liking. Medium for mine and well-done for hers. Steak house chips, chunky old style like Mum used to make. Salad/veggie bar standard fare. the roasted veggies my favorite.

10% discount with my membership card, with a pint of Carlton and a CC and Dry, $63.

Not the cheapest way to have a Tuesday night feed, but very nice, The eatery was pretty quiet, so service was over the top, coming past asking if everything was ok etc, which was good without being invasive.

A chat to Youngy, Harvs, Butch and Tommy Clurey made my night. The Mrs had no clue, other than who was "the hot surfy looking dude". Young.

7.5/10 - Excellent food

One Club - Two steaks :)

I haven't eaten there in a year but have never had a bad meal or bad catering at any event. Quality kitchen

Went here recently

Taken over the old Wheatsheaf Hotel in Gawler (previously Fig 22).

Was awesome. Such a lovely building - great staff - and the food was excellent!

Sammys at the Marina. 25% off with the ent book gold card.

Entree ; Garlic bread with garlic dipping butter and Bloody Mary Oyster shooters. Absolutely brilliant.

The Mrs had Whiting. Mother in law had some type of fancy garlic prawn dish. Both were superb and of a good size. Side salad was tasty. Extra tartare required as it was a solid version. Both loved their meal.

I went with the Aussie something which had flathead, whiting, prawns and the actual best calamari I have ever tasted. It was genuinely sublime. Served with chips, a side salad and a corona the meal could not be faulted.

Price $105ish which was a real surprise with it included wine, beer and a couple of shooters. Service was first class.

Hadn't been in years as it can be a pricey place that often ends in over eating but we will definitely be back. Cannot fault any of it.

9.5/10

Off the subject a little but I was having a discussion with a chick the other night about cuisine, I said to her "Stuff French, I reckon they have crap cuisine"
Her Reply was "What do you mean? French Fries are nice".

Had to be there, she seemed so certain.

Four of us went to Sean's Kitchen at the casino yesterday, my report --

Other couple started with "A Museum of Hams" basically slices of two different hams, an Australian and a Spanish, served with a slice of bread each, a little shaved parmesan and baby dill pickles. I didn't get a taste but it looked pretty underwhelming to me. Sort of two ham sandwiches @$22 each.

My missus had a prawn cocktail, said it was ok, nice sauce but prawns a little soft.

I had quail spatchcock which was pleasant enough but seemed to just be a pair of wings and the drumsticks, worlds only breastless bird? Came with warm capers and smoky tomatoes which went with it nicely.

Main course, sister in law had "Orgy of Mushrooms", various fungi served with gnochi. Expressed her satisfaction with a rousing endorsment of said gnochi.

Brother in law went for the pork chop which appeared to be a rack of three with the two outer chops deboned. Impressive looking, served with slices of apple and pear. Worked through it at a rapid pace and appeared to thoroughly enjoy it.

My Lady went the eye fillet, 200gms cooked as she asked, medium. Not much to say really, reported as "ok".

I had the scotch fillet 350gms. Came out a little underdone, I asked for medium rare and got closer to rare. Better that way than overcooking it but I was somewhat disappointed as it was rather chewy. I have to mention the peppercorn sauce, had an almost caramel flavour to it, pleased I tried it before drowning my steak.

Brother in law skipped dessert and went straight to coffee.
The two girls shared a chocolate brownie between them. They only got half way through it, declaring the chocolate to be overpowering. Staff asked for feedback when they saw how much they left, as they had apparently just started doing desserts. The waitress accepted their suggestion of using vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate, kudos for listening to your customers.
I had apple and blackberry pie with ice cream. Nice way to finish.

A few observations, the mains come basically unaccompanied, my steak was served with only a little silverbeet (or spinach, I can never tell the difference), a serve of chips, carrots and a slaw were $10 each. Bread was $3 a slice. Makes my $40 steak closer to $50.
The place is pleasant enough but cold. Doors are left open to the outside dining area leaving a hell of a draft for where we were inside. Outside tables had gas heaters above them, I suspect they were warmer than we were.
Staff were pleasant, attentive and friendly.
When full the place was noisy, all tiles and glass will do that I guess.
Not a huge selection of beers, three I think. Settled on the Mismatch which was served in a chilled tankard. Stayed lovely and cold right to the last drop. Lovely!

The bill-
Brother in law smashed the red wine, girls had a couple of champers each and a bottle of dry white. I had four beers.
$466.
For mine, too expensive for what it was. For that sort of coin I would expect to walk away wowed, it was not awful, for the most part I enjoyed myself but will be in no hurry to go again.

I've heard mixed reports of Sean's Kitchen. This one added to the three or four "ho-hum" reports. The only thing not "ho-hum".....$466!!

Had a banquet at Ruby Red Flamingo's a couple of weeks ago.
The food was good, there was no money wasted on plates or cutlery as nothing matched and it all looked straight from an op shop.
The table cloths were sheets of thick brown paper to which one person missed where the table ended and their plate dropped on their lap.
The beer range was poor but their wines were good.

Overall, 6.5, staff were friendly and were at our disposal often enough without being painful and although the servings were a bit skimpy for the $49 per head the quality was good.
I doubt whether I'd go back on my own accord though.

While I'm at it, the Greek on Halifax does an amazing banquet, we quite regularly go out for dinner through work and this place reigns supreme out of any of where we have been.
I wasn't sure on what to expect as besides the odd yiros I wasn't too sure on Greek cuisine, I left there totally in awe though.
Everything about the place was brilliant, great wine and beer selection, great service and the food, starting from the entree's was to die for.

Well worth the $55 per head asking price, I left there full and satisfied and the range of beers kept all of us happy.
9.5/10.

Waterloo Station Hotel - Road House Grill

Went here with the family on Sunday night. I rated everything I got.

My older brother (30) got the mixed grill, which was just a few different pieces of meat on a skewer. He was not happy with that. He said it all tasted good, but there just wasnt enough.

My younger brother (12) got the kids hotdog, which was pretty basic, but ok. He was furious with dessert. He asked for Frog in a Pond, which should be jelly with custard on top with two chocolate frogs. What he got was a plastic container with orange jelly and a Freddo (still in the wrapper) sitting on top. Terrible.

If you go there, there is a sign above the bar saying "order dessert here". That sign is a filthy liar. I was lined up for 7 minutes, got to the front, and got told I had to order dessert at the other counter. Another 10 minute wait.

Mum and my missus enjoyed their meals. Missus had the combo of mixed grill/salt and pepper squid and Mum had the schnitty with mushroom gravy.

I got the scotch fillet with garlic prawns. Cooked very well, good choices of sides, being coleslaw and ceasar salad. Washed down with a glass of Captain Morgans (they didnt have Sailor Jerrys).

I only paid for mine, my little brothers and the missus's's's -

1 x Steak
1 x Mixed Grill/Salt and Pepper Squid
1 x Garlic Bread
1 x Kids Hotdog meal

Total - $71.00

I'd give it a 7/10, could be better, but decent enough that we'll probably go back at some point.

$466 for four people isn't that bad IMO

For our 10 year anniversary four years ago, the Missus and I went to Windy Point Restaurant Two bottles of red, two mains and two deserts along with a shared starter (might have been two entrees can't quite remember) and it was $240. With inflation that would be well over $250 now.

Food and service excellent along with the view so didn't mind paying that much.

Nice quiet setting, food came out within 10 or so minutes.

I went the Massamam Curry, very mild and heavy on the peanut side. We ended up sharing our dishes, the red curry was great, we got it with duck, the meat portions were generous in size and not the slightest bit dry. Also My friend went the Pad Thai, good size, fresh, no complaints for a meal under $18.

3 of us, For 3 mains, a shared rice, and two desserts, it came to $54 with the 25% off voucher from the entertainment book.

Better than Oreintai, the popularity of that place astoudns me. Not quite as good as Phuket on Jetty Road but for the price, the quiet location and setting, plenty of parking across the road at the Foodland its definately worth a friday night trip.

They also do BYO, not sure on the booze menu as I'm trying to lose a few KG's from my overseas trip.

Golden Boy is next on the to do list. 11 course banquet $60 a head.
