Very sad, know the three Police involved extremely well and had worked on the same patrol team as the deceased for a few years after he graduated in the late 80's, wouldn't find a nicer more placid guy anywhere

Also two other officers lost to the "black dog" this week as well

Condolences to you and those affected locky.

A mate of mine involved in a serious police incident years ago is the first I think of when something like this happens. He gets by day to day, I sent him a message of support this morning.

I knew Sgt Marty Harnath who tragically died in 1985. I was friends with his sons when it occurred.

Was one of the best blokes you could have ever met, was only 49.

I remember to the day my wife ringing me in tears telling me that a great friend of ours had jumped off the roof of the police station HQ. She had been the longest serving female police officer in her unit at Police SA at the time.

My lad wants to be a cop. I'm still struggling with it but if he wants to do it, I'm going to support it, not stand in the way.

I worked at a mining company recently and the same principle echoes in my head - some people go to work and then don't come home.
