Whoa, on the cricket field? What happened?
Sorry to hear that.

During the innings break he had a heart attack and sadly passed away

Condolences to you and your mates. That is shocking.

Holy shit.

Very sorry to hear about your team mate.

Do you mind if I ask how old he was?

Commiserations for your loss, whufc.

It's no consolation by any means, but it sounds like your mate met his maker doing something he loved, which is how we probably all would like to go.

I think you'll find that he was 54, not that it matters, it was devastating.

My dad going back to hospital last night.

Was released from hospital Tuesday after but is not well enough to be at home while he waits for Chemotherapy.

He was taken to hospital on Australia day for which was thought to be a slight Heart attack experiencing tightness in his chest and not being able to breathe. On further investigation in hospital it was revealed that had fluid in/on his lungs. This fluid turned out to be cancerous. Over the 3 and a bit weeks in hospital he had the fluid continually drained from his lungs while having operations on both lungs to stop the fluid coming back and because the fluid had also caused his lungs to collapse so that had to be inflated and attached to the cheat wall again.

After all the tests and scans were done it was revealed he has stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. It has also spread to the lining of his lungs, hence the fluid. He's had no real prior symptoms and they don't pick it up until late apparently.

He was ment to be having a hip replacement surgery on the Monday after Australia day, been waiting a year for it but now that is just forgotten about. He had a physical in October in preparation for his hip surgery and his results from that revealed nothing to suggest he had any internal problems. We were looking forward to his hip operation because it should of been done 10 years ago and he never did anything about it and it got to a point where he just became unbearable and frustrating to deal with.

But now nothing prepared us for this. My brother, sister and I have been ok about it and we have to be for mum. My aunt (dads sister) is very distraught about it as she's already lost their mum when they were younger and their brother before I was born, both to cancer. My grandfather had bowel cancer before overcoming it and eventually passing away aged 94 in 2014. It was believed he had some form of cancer when he passed.

So in 4 weeks my dad is due to start Chemotherapy. Hopefully it helps and can perlong his quality of life for as long as possible.

Hopefully the hospital can help him get over the terrible stomach pains and bloating he's been experiencing in the last 2 days, he can't eat and was just bed ridden. He desperately wanted to come home and stay home before his Chemo but that is not possible.

All the best TDK, having lost my Dad only two days ago I concur fully with LM. Make sure you tell him how much you love him and appreciate him. I wouldn't wish the emotional pain I've had in the last week on my worst enemy, I hope you get a lot of quality time out of him yet.

Yeah mate, two and a half years on and I still hurt, it's just a random song or a trip down a familiar road and the eyes water up.

The one thing that sits well with me is that there was nothing left unsaid, we had some differences over the years there was nothing left behind.
