I wasnt that much of a timewarp fan after a while. It was like playing the same mix tape EVERY wednesday.

I also wasnt that much of a weeknighter when i stopped working at clubs so saturdays and the odd thursday at the village was about my limit.

My haunts

U18: The Tunnel, Lukes, Jules

1991-93 Worked at Jules so if i wasn't there i was at the Berkley, Heaven, Players. BIGFAN of players. Didnt mind the circuit but there were always line ups. LISA DIDN'T LINE UP.

93-98: the office, players and upstairs at Joppies..hated the planet, i could count on one hand the amount of times i walked in that place.

Wasn't much of a clubber as such but these were the places we occasionally frequented...

The Planet
The Big Ticket
The Norwood
Stix (Pop - the greatest place on earth)
Shotz
The Berkley
The Village
Heaven

Oh how we used to love DJ Ian. My mate had his 40th last year at the new Shotz and DJ Ian played the music... took me back to the mid 90's... Britpop and UK Indie... I'm getting all nostalgic and even a little teary [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

No mention of The Black Rose. Could be seriously weird.

Scary place. Had to be wary of making eye contact with anyone in that joint.

Got kicked out of the Austral once (late 80s?) coz the bouncer said I looked like I was about to spew. Well and good, but:
- I already had spewed in the dining bar, and promptly relocated to the beer garden.
- I spewed again after being escorted from the premises.
- I simply waltzed back in through the door unchallenged after the second spew and remained therein for the rest of the evening.

Can't say I miss those days...

I had five rounds that I used to do - depended if I was out with my Mrs DW and her uni mates, footy mates, school mates, Fasta Pasta mates or uni mates.
Five different crowds and all coming from different locations meant my Wed nights to Sunday arvos were very diverse.

My nights from 18-25 were a combination of

Wed: Heaven Timewarp
Thurs: pre drinks at the Downs and then up to the Village (rape and pillage), very occasionally Chemistry at Heaven
Fri: Downs Pub/ Southern/ Highlander/ Palais
Sat: Town (mixture of Church, Planet, Heaven, Rios, Black Cat, The Elephant
Sun: The Grand and the Pier

Anyone mentioned Da Vinci's yet?
My brother worked there in the 80's, reckoned he had to break up orgies on tables.

The Norwood was great, especially the old bar around on Osmond Tce. Remember meeting a chick on the Hill at a Norwood v Port game, before getting better acquainted in the privacy of the toilets at the pub. Said girl became girlfriend not long after but I probably should have known that was never gonna work out.

The Havelock & Royal combo on Saturday night were great in the late 90's.

Bojangles - Upstairs at the Newmarket. Saturday nights
Grenfell Tavern. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights
My Place - Saturday night
Bay Disco - Sunday Night
The Showboat at Port Adelaide. Night club on the boat that went out on the River cruise for 4 hours. Thursday nights.
Black Rose - when ever
'Grab a Grannies' at the Highway Inn - Saturday night. Was a struggle NOT to pick one up.
Sams - Redlegs club - Saturday night. Was great fun, as we always ended up in a dust up week after week
Peckers Disco - Woodville Football Club on a Thursday night. Tremendous batting average there.
Leg Trap on a Thursday night, with the girls dancing in the cages upstairs
Charles Sturt Tavern. When ever
Old Lion - Underground in the Basement. Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. Often a sneaky Sunday night
Cobbs Restaurant - but only after Ladies Night. Once a fortnight they had Ladies night. Great value.

Can't say I miss those days...

Got kicked out of the Exeter in 1996 with two other uni mates on the basis that one of them was eating a yiros in the front bar (and we were a bit pissed). We respectfully disagreed with the bouncer's decision, and before you could say "any excuse to fight someone" we were very forcefully removed from the premises. I remember being pinned to the footpath out the front with my arm held behind my back, and another was pinned up against the tobacconist's window next door. We must've posed a real and present threat to the drunk patrons in the pub, three dribbling uni students four sheets to the wind.

In the midst of drunken anger myself and the non yiros-eating friends (who we lost along the way) went to Hindley Street police station to complain about such unnecessary roughness and seek justice. They couldn't do anything, but funnily enough another dude rocked in with blood all around his mouth, and who claimed this was also the work of the same bouncer.

Nevertheless, I managed to forgive the Exeter pretty quickly. I know it's not a 'nightclub' but it's been a favorite haunt over the years.
