Thanks mate, Coopers Alehouse can't cook a steak to save themselves but there's plenty of other decent options.

Agreed, I've never had a decent meal there. Don't eat there any more and I get 50% off!

Their Yoder Smoker and their Duo Basket looked like the pics of the litter when we went there as a group.

I had the Yoder Smoker once and it was awful. Like eating old shoes.
Mind you at least they got our meal right that time.

We are regulars at the Vic for dinners and have breakfasts at the Seacliff or Espy most Saturdays, the 50% off is too good to be true

My pub does up to 300 meals a day and has a great chef, it's wonderful not having to worry what I have to take to work for lunch!
My boss used to work at the Vic and helped set up the good work going on there.
Always had very nice meals at the Ramsgate too.
The missus reckons she doesn't care how many hours I work as long as we still get the 50% off meals, 5% of drinks and Woolies and 10% of Big W.
Also Woolies and Big W give us an extra 5% off once a month.
ALH also pay bloody good compared to some other pubs, I would be tempted to try somewhere else but bloody hard to justify it especially as I now work exclusively in the front bar (which I love) and work as many (or less) hours as I want to.
The 50% off was originally for a limited time but dits great they've kept it up! *

Yeah cant complain, when my son went to permanent part time hours at Woolies they offered a secondary card to someone else in the family so we no longer have to take him along

I actually had forgotten that the Hub was ALH also, will have to try it, haven't been there for a feed for over 10 years!

The Vic is awesome now, refurb when COVID hit and its easily the most popular pub down south (which isn't hard - there are some shockers)

No, but I had a Waygu at the Meat & Wine Co Saturday night, sensational!!!

Their ribs looked the bomb though, I thought I had Fred Flintstone sitting next to me.

Some place in town, can't remember it's name. Ordered the full Aussie Test squad, looked good.

One thing leads to another and they only sent me the captain, wasn't happy but decided to take him out for 7 days anyway.

0/10

Not terrible, but really just an overpriced pub. And really hard work getting a drink with the table service. With the exorbitant prices and company credit card on deck you'd have thought they'd milk it.

5/10

Now a Woolies owned pub

Is the Gepps Coopers Ale House still under this umbrella?

To me this a list of pubs to avoid, look after the small guys before the woolworths group, especially in covid times, woolworths certainly arent doing it tough, plenty of small business restaurants and pubs that are more worthy of your $$

A lot of those pubs were great pubs before Woolies bought them.
The Vic, Espy and Seacliff all have shit service since Woolies bought them

Wage cuts and less staff equals slow service.

Shit management, no one gives a f#ck…
I could tell numerous stories of how badly run the Seacliff is.

Seacliff and the Espy are terrible pubs now.
Used to be 2 of my favourites
I’m surprised anyone eats at the Espy.

Get paid a lot more at ALH (and have more flexibility and choice of hours) than I did working for an independent and most the ALH pubs I've been to have great service, ours gets great ratings on quality and service. The worst treatment of staff I've seen is at independents and there is a much higher requirement for training at a corporate pub.
Most pubs are owned by large conglomerates now anyway, there's a few, not just ALH.
Hurley, Australian Venue Co, Compass, Barreau, Fahey, Francis, etc.
Getting bad in the country too, for example the same company owns both pubs in Port Broughton, great competition, try doing that in the media.

The Sunnyside in Broughton has just been sold and has been closed for a while. Both the hotel and gaming licences are suspended.

The Port Broughton hotel has also been sold (October).

Correct. Both bought by the same company.
Changeover started a week ago for the Port Broughton Hotel.

Thanks. That would be about 8 pubs they have bought this year.
