My daughter having to have her 1st horse put down because of an aggressive cancer. She's had the pony since they were both 6 & had 11 years together at pony clubs before retiring her to a spoilt pony paddock life. Had lots of offers from people to buy the pony but my daughter couldn't stand the thought of anyone else owning her.
This only 6 months after the wife had her dog euthanised.

That's awful mate, thoughts with you. It hurts so much when we lose beloved animals, they're better than most people.
I swore I'd never get another dog when my girl passed away at 6 about 12 years ago and then I married a woman who's Jack Russell has adopted me as his primary care giver. It hurts so much when we lose them. :(

Getting sick of posting in this thread.

Finding out tonight that a premiership team mate passed away in his sleep overnight. He was only 49 years old.

It's bone rattling isn't it? My thoughts go out to you. I've lost 3 or 4 of my team mates from the 90's side I played with. And about 6 others around the club, some old, some not so old.

Did anyone else see the state of Wally Lewis's brain compared to a normal brain last night?
Made me feel ill and very sad for the King.

work colleague's wife passing away on the weekend from a heart attack. Him and his daughters performed CPR but could not be revived. Only in her 50's. Second work colleague's wife in 8 weeks that this has happened too at a similar age.

WTF is going on.

Yep.

I bloke I knew (I wouldn't say all that well) through business, passed last week. Heart attack, gone at 42. Leaves a young family behind.

Tragic.

^ this prompted me to get my heart checked. I have high blood pressure but nothing else. It's being treated by medication, so I feel 'a' level of comfort but you can never be too sure.

I had heart failure in my 30s, luckily I went to the doc to get a shortness of breath checked out and have been on medication ever since. (My heart was enlarged, getting harder, basically dying and and I had a resting heart rate of 110bpm).
All from an arrhythmia which they've since tried to "zap" back into a regular rate but failed.
My yearly echocardiogram is tomorrow.
Still counting down the next month and a half out day by day as both my grandfather and cousin died at exactly the same age I am now but being on blood thinners I'm probably less likely to have an issue than the average Joe.
Definitely go see your doc if you suspect anything abnormal in your chest or with your breathing, it's the biggest killer around.

Yeah ripping bloke too...and a better than handy player, very good keeper/batsman.

It hits home hard when blokes of my vintage are falling away.....

The fires in Lahaina, Maui.

Was lucky enough to spend some time staying there in 2017, charming town and a beautiful part of the world.

Losing another young friend to the black dog.
