Went to Oklahoma for a conference, and one night went to a cigar & whisky lounge with a group of other delegates. Paid something like US$ 18 for a single shot of Laphroaig. Reckon that was upwards of AU$ 25 at the time.

Was once told it was to do with the 6 o'clock swill, smaller drinks = less beer drunk at the last minute.

100% Agree. A Schooner in Vic is different to a Schooner in SA.

100% Agree. A Schooner in Vic is different to a Schooner in SA.

Standardise it already.

schooner here is a pint in NSW regularly drink my $7.00 schooner in NSW which is a pint at the Broken Hill pub

The States couldn’t get their story straight on rail gauges, so how were they supposed to standardise beer glass sizes?

On don’t get me started on the standard name for fritz.

Make the convict states conform to our terminology.

Not a big issue for me when interstate as I'll happily drink an Imperial Pint anywhere if I accidentally ask for a pint.
Only problem I have is when I mumble pint and they give me a pot.

I just say give us the biggest you got!
