Your poison of choice?

Just before Christmas I was driving with the family past Tenefeate Winery as we headed home - it's about five minutes from my place, near One Tree Hill - and thought I'd stop in and get a couple of bottles of wine for Christmas lunch. While I was there, I remembered they'd just released a craft beer.
"Might as well have something nice to drink with the brother-in-law," I thinks to myself.
So I mosey on in, purchase two bottles of wine, a red and a white, and grab a sixer.
You know how you just pay for something and don't really think about the price? Yeah, that was me.
I get to the car and Mrs DW asks how much it was. "90 bucks, I says."
Then the penny, well, the dollars, dropped - I had just spent $90 on two bottles of wine and a six pack of beer.
Having been there many times in the past, I knew the wine was about $20 each.
The realisation hit. I paid $50 for a six pack of beer. Then the realisation hit the missus, I had just paid $50 for a six pack of beer.
Having had a ding dong about two hours previous about spending money wisely, she just looked at me and shook her head.
Yup, $50 for a six pack of brew, that I didn't even think was anything special.
I guess I'll have to try it again and reassess my thoughts on it.

You'd wanna hope, that at $50, they were 500ml cans of 7.6% alcoholic goodness. Even then, wowee.

Anyway, I'm off to the P/A for a beer with the local street poet/busker.
Might have to try something new.

So, just got back from the PA where I had a Mismatch Extra Pale Ale.
I didn't mind it, had a slightly sweet taste. Heavy on the after taste.
There's something about craft beers that always makes me sleepy after the first one.
And...got back to work and remembered I hadn't paid my tab. Nice.

Murphy's Irish Stout, excellent stuff. Drank litres of it when I went to Ireland a few years back.
