You have got to be f*cking kidding me.

Not a fan that he's buying it?
Or you don't think it's a good idea that Elon is now in control?

Bit of both, certainly not saying Twitter is a great platform when it comes to political bias, but it's even worse that someone who doesn't agree with how it's run just buys it to please himself.

Isn't that just normal commerce?
Plenty of other big social media have been bought by the likes of Google and FB and then changed to suit the new owners. I dont see the difference.

He's going to take a big hit if he starts making people identify themselves
I have no idea but I'd say anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 the accounts will disappear
https://www.helsinkitimes.fi/finland/news-in-brief/20076-almost-half-of-twitter-followers-of-musk-gates-and-others-revealed-to-be-fake-accounts.html#:~:text=The%20study%20revealed%20that%2C%20out,his%20business%20and%20about%20politics.

Twitter's T&Cs say you cant set up a fake account
Hopefully he uses due diligence to make them guarantee that they have complied with their own T&Cs and the price is based upon their honesty.

IMO, there's more to this than meets the eye

I didn't say there was a difference, I just think it's deplorable that the richest man in the world owns the Washington Post, the second now owns Twitter, the third owns Facebook....and we're expected to buy that they did it because they want free speech? The rise of the far right in France is just the beginning.

You've still got the ABC, The Project, The Guardian and Crikey!

I guess it comes down to perspective.

If you sit on the left, you look at twitter pre Elon and say how wonderful it is that an independent body was willing to use their power to ban right wing users like Donald Trump!
And you look at that power shifting to a new owner and think its so dangerous that the power now sits with the right!

Whereas if you sit on the right of centre, you look at it as a the left now potentially (Elon hasn't changed anything yet) getting a taste of their own medicine.

The fact that twitter banned the president of the USA but still allowed the Taliban to tweet out recruitment videos suggested to me that it wasn't about complying with ts&cs and more about twitters managers using their power to impart some political influence that perhaps they shouldn't have. Then again, I'm clearly viewing that from the right so could be wrong indeed.

I think the bottom line is unfortunately with politics being the big business it is these days, as soon as anything develops any form of power (or influence in the case of media / social media), there will be sides of politics trying to grab control of it to push their own agenda. Truly neutral media is few and far between, and even if it starts out neutral, it will grow and become influenced by either, if not both, sides of politics trying to take advantage.

Leftists truly terrified that their safe space echo chamber is under threat. They'll be running home crying to their birthing persons right now.

Look, I don't do tennis, but hey....credit where it's due...

On April 25th, 2005, an 18-year-old @RafaelNadal broke into the Top 10 for the first time.

That was 17 years ago to this day, and he hasn’t left the elite since—not even for a week.

It’s the longest Top 10 streak in ATP rankings history, and he’s still going strong.

The extreme on either side is dangerous.

Couldn't agree more.

The extreme of either side of the side of the political fence scares the beejesus out of me.

I love the way politicians warn of political extremism whilst creating, and encouraging, their own loyal mob

Whose "right wing" voices are being silenced on twitter?

"Ileantomyright" was one that was banned
He actually wasn't that controversial at all
Mainly talked about his meals, but his name probably got him banned

It's important to note that Trump was banned from Twitter due to the risk of incitement of violence, rather than for his espousing right-wing views per se.

During his presidency alone, Trump tweeted about 25,000 times - many of these tweets obviously espoused right-wing views. It wasn't holding these views that got him banned.

Concept 2 rower I got for my birthday last week.
Never used a rower before but always wanted one.
It’s definitely hard work and definitely a full body workout with a good blow of the lungs.
Not sure what everyone else can do but have made it to 30 minutes already and nearly 7000m

Good work. They are a great way to lose weight. I used to row twice a day for an hour each time and would do 12ks in an hour. I lost 25 kilo in 3 months on the rower and then I stopped and now I'm a fat bastard again. It does get boring after a while so try and mix it up a bit.

And you need the room for one.
