Some very good friends of mine and it's exactly as it reads. She had absolutely no idea she was pregnant.

At 41 with endo she had very irregular cycles her whole adult life and had no indication anything was different.

@JK knows them well too, surprised is an understatement for all that know them.

I had an ex who had the same pregnancy suprise. Luckily for me we had not been together for just over 12 months prior to the surprise.

There was a lot of talk though of how much of a surprise it really was especially given the ex's reputation at one football club. To this day the father remains 'unknown'

Funnily enough it split the club a bit for a while there and a few potential dads all moved on to different clubs around the state.

Happened to my brother / sister in law. Went to hospital with stomach cramps. Was just about to be released when she had another cramp. Baby came out less than half hour of being told they were pregnant.

Why FUIC tastes better in a 600ml carton than a 750ml bottle?

A debate at footy training last night between some of the old timers (inc myself) vs youngsters.

The claim from the youngsters was 'Fast cricket bowlers weren't as fast as the bowlers these days'

Their evidence was essentially 'evolution'. Pretty much humans are faster, stronger, fitter, every other sports see pretty much most records being broken especially at olympic level. Other evidence was that these pretty much every AFL player can kick at least 50m go back years ago not the case. You get the gist.

Us oldies argued the Thommo fast bowling comp which clocked him at 160km.

They’ll them to go out to the crease without a helmet and have 8 bouncers (remember, 8 ball overs back then) fired at them, then get them to come back and ask them again.

I think the quickest of the quick, were just as quick back in the day, as they are now. Thommo vs Tait.

However, I also think that with batsmen able to sit on bowling machines (or even wangers) and become 'comfortable' - a relative term, with facing pace, pure pace doesn't cut the mustard anymore.
Now days you need to have control, or the ability to also swing it, along with raw pace, to make it up the grades.

Being able to fling it down at 155, but it goes everywhere, or doesn't swing, doesn't get you a prolonged test career anymore.

I think the average pace of our swing bowlers has gone up for sure.
Jye Richardson, Starc, etc move the ball through the air and at serious pace.

I'm not so sure that was as common in the 80s and 90s.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
