Not scrapped, my understanding is just not being policed

SA has not made any changes yet, but that can change.

No income test, all this on top of my super and my missus income?
Am I missing something? :?

It thought that to be eligible the business also needed to show a 30% drop in revenue purely based on COVID-19. Not sure this will help massive businesses but would definitely help smaller businesses and also sole traders. They said payments would be made in May and back date to March 1st.
Its isnt means tested because the payment goes to the employer to pay as normally would to the employee.

They mentioned an employer who stood down/sacked an employee could re-employ those people and be eligible to keep them at work. The payment equates to 75% of the median salary in AUS and nearly 100% for the people this is affecting the most.

Yep.

If your employer has laid you off because of a downturn in business of more than 30% then between now and May 1 they pay you $1500 per fortnight and from May 1 the gubinment pay them back.

Interesting to see SAPOL have now cancelled all types of leave and all those on leave have returned to operational duties as of today

..and if you're just a lazy bum at home, then you can get paid $1500 a fortnight too for being on the dole?

**** remind me again what the benefits or maintaining my job are? :P

So that you have one to stay in and go back to in a normal way once all of this finishes?

Not available to long term unemployed because this payment is made to the employer to pay the employee. If someone was sacked after March 1st based on the downturn, the employer can re-employ that person and have them work for this wage for 6 months - it would be up to that individual if they want to go back and work for this wage (some employers may even top up the wage to get closer to previous pay) or choose to go on benefits.

I have a customer who has 4 FT employees. He will be eligible if he has a 30% downturn. I think its registered through the ATO. He will then effectively be given $7500/fortnight (including himself) from the GOV to keep these people employed with him. He said he would top up their wages to keep them with him all.

Way i read it the 30% downturn needs to be immediate to have it back dated to March 1st? this would be most in hospitality i would assume. People like my customer hasnt seen a downturn yet and really only will when/if we go into full lockdown.

$1500 per fortnight to employers in a "Job keeper" package to help employers keep people employed so the transition back into the work force is easier and obviously eases the load on the Centrelink system.

Thats the one my work place has been waiting for.

Now at least we can do some concrete sums and determine the outcome for our small staff team.
businesses will be reimbursed in arrears.

So the onus is on employers to keep people on, and make the payments – and then the government, in May, will pay back the employer (back dated to today)

We will carry payments now that we know how much and when we will get reimbursed. Looks like everyone will keep their roles now (in some capacity at least)

Tell them Detmold at Brompton will be making 145,000,000 in the next few months and 45,000,000 are staying in SA.

Great local story.

Here's some food for thought.

Will the future see an Aussie built car once again?

My reply suggested that many companies will be re-assessing their need to trade with China, That was the guts of it, just not as nicely put as that!

If it wasn’t viable pre covid19 why would it be post?

What’s changed that much to make it viable now?

A lot of Korean and Japanese cars on the market
