There is a curfew?
Have a staff member who is Siri Lankan.
Told me a few months ago they still have issues with the Tamils etc and they have a curfew.

Cheers for the heads up, I had best look into that. I arrive at around 10.30pm local time Saturday night, and by the time I get through customs, retrieve bag, exchange some cash & get a cab/uber to the hotel, I am thinking at least midnight.

Maybe its a rural thing & not in affect in Colombo....??

So here we go. Breezed through check in - flying Sri Lankan Airlines today, which means my Qantas Status counts, no waiting in long ques. Through customs, cursory glance in duty free, all over priced stuff if you ask me. Into the Qantas lounge and the first beer of the trip hitting the spot...… Lunch options include, bloody curry, pass!

Board in an hour, and then 11 hours of pain in cattle class, enquired about an upgrade to Business..... $1,000 if you don't mind. GGF!

Schedule to arrive 10.30pm local, or about 4.00am Aussie time. Hoping to doze on the plane.

Watching cricket scores come through, my young bloke going along ok, 72* in quick time by the looks...… bugger wish I was there!

Can’t put a price in arriving at your destination fresh and ready to hit the ground running.
The amount of flying you do surely you have enough FF points for a redemption?

Won’t be able to use points on Sri Lankan to upgrade. Work paying for flights?
With a million points you could book about 5 or 6 return flights to SL in business class

That makes it hard then as unless you are flying with Qantas you can’t upgrade with points. Personally I’d rather book the flights totally myself with points and fly business class :)

Had a quick squiz around Colombo this morning..... way better than Bangas (which isn’t hard) staying in the Hilton which is top notch. Going for a walk after lunch see what I find going the other direction, a pub hopefully!

Well the 5.5 hour time difference is kicking in. I was safely tucked up in bed by 8 last night. Not much sleep Saturday contributing also. So I was awake at 4.30am.... just enjoying a spot of Breakfast now. My Thai based colleague arrived late last night and sent me a message that I only checked this morning. He has stuffed up the meeting time of our first appointment . I’m about to go check which room he is in with the front desk and place a wake up call!!

Better allow extra travel time the rain this morning is of biblical proportions, it’s ******* sheeting down out there..... and it’s still 29c. Humid much??
