Our plan is 3 months away.

I don't fly well so our trip over looks like :

Adelaide / Singapore - Night in Singapore
Singapore / Dubai - Night in Dubai
Dubai / London

Week in UK ( all times subject to change ) I'm Welsh so going to Cardiff no matter what.

London / Amsterdam
Amsterdam / Budapest river cruise

Budapest / France
France / Spain
Spain / Italy
Italy / Greece

Emirates / Singapore night in Singapore
Singapore / Adelaide

This is the rough itinerary I'm working on

We are heading over for 5 1/2 weeks March/April based around a wedding in London.

Flying Qatar Airways;

Prague for few nights
London 10 days
Paris 6 days
Zurich 3 days
Milan 2 days
Venice 3 days
Florence 3 days
Rome 6 days
Doha 2 days by the pool before landing back in Adelaide.

All depends on when you “want” the long stretch on a flight. Both options are around 20hrs flight time each way total but obviously many people prefer the Singapore option for the 7hr stint home as you can the 13hr Europe to Singapore flight done, relax for a day or two and then short flight home.
Emirates is the better airline IMO but the 13hr flight back home does scare some people off.
Flights are dirt cheap in Europe but just beware some of the LCC land at secondary airports that are a looooong way out of town. I do prefer to either take the train or drive everywhere in Europe, get to see much more than just hopping from airport to airport.
Driving gives you luxury of just stopping in at pubs or restaurants along the way or seeing some unbelievable scenery.

We are over there in March.

Heading to North Ireland for two weeks to stay with the in-laws family.

Then over to London to stay with my family for a week.

Then 15 days to do a little bit of Europe, the 7-year old daughter has always been fascinated with Paris so will do that.

I've been fortunate to do a few trips to Europe and see a fair bit so ill let the Irish misses decide where we go. Despite living over there until she was 13 she has never been over to the continent before.

Fly Melb to Lond Via Dubai - Emirates. only a bit over 1 hour layover in Dubai.

3 days London - sight seeing etc

Eurostar to Paris

3 days sight seeing

Train to Bordeaux

3 days wine tasting & Tour De France

Fly Bordeuax to Edinburgh

3 days at the Open Champinship at St. Andrews

Hire car - drive to London - via Clarksons farm - 2 days

Free day in London then train to Southhmpton

5 days at the 4th Ashes test - The first ever test played at the Rosebowl.

Train back to London - Fly to Rome

3 days sight seeing Rome

Train to Milan

2 days sight seeing Milan

Train to Zurich

3 days sight seeing

Fly Zurich to Athens.

2 days then fly back to Melb (Emirates) via Dubai.

Well it has all happened pretty quickly and we have now booked flights mid July, flying Emirates to Athens and Singapore home from London, will work out how to get from Athens to London later on, Booked extra legroom in economy, couldn't justify the Premium Economy even though it looked good.

My boys are pretty keen to get up to Scotland to see the golf courses (and I love this idea) but no real plans yet on what we want to do. Im sure we will end up with wanting to do more than we have time for.

Anyone done a day trip to Paris from London?

Was the pricing cheaper than a return as it’s usually more expensive.
Plenty of options from Athens to London but just beware of which London airport they use.

As to a day trip to Paris, nope never done it as it’s a good 5hrs return by train or a wasted day by air plus Paris is well worth a good couple of days as there is just too much to see in a day.

Not a day trip, did 2 full days and left at lunch on the third day.

Not sure you could truly fit in everything in a day trip unless your going to just look from the outside.

Either way you do it would highly recommend pre buying your tickets to the main attractions like the Eiffel tower and the louvre. Will save you a ton of time.

I think the day trip to Paris only really makes sense for people who reside in London. If you're an Australian tourist who's never been there I'd say you'd want at least several days.

Anyone done a day trip to Paris from London?

I looked into it once in 2013. I had almost €200 cash left over from my Ireland leg thought it would be a chance to spend the cash. Spare day of our self organised trip. It was doable but you had to be staying near Kings Cross St Pancras station. Get the Eurostar at 5am and wouldn't get back until after 11pm. Need to clear immigration as per an airport and this was pre Brexit. The French probably take twice as long now.

Decided against it as I was going alone and wasn't sure how much I would get to see knowing very little French and not much time.
