1991 Rugby World Cup, Perkins at Barcelona, Americas Cup, Oppy in the 24 hour in the 1930s, Bradman's 334 in a day, Herb Elliot at the 1960 Olympics, Walter Lindrum all amazing efforts but this deserves to be right up there!!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

He'd beg them to let him ride down here, even if it's just a training ride and a parade.

Raced here in 2010, so there is a good chance of it again, especially with Lance not being here and some more money to throw at another rider and team.

This is tougher than most for many, many reasons. Riding flat out for 3-6 hours a day for 3 weeks up hill and down dale, 3336km in under 84 hours is just about 40kph. And in just a split second you can go down and be out of the race, or worse. Previous years he's ridden with some serious injuries. A broken elbow, ruptured ACL in the olympics, could hardly stand the pain of having his shoulder brushed for most of the tour in 2008. If you got back even further, he was born 3 weeks overdue with a broken nose. Kicked in the head at 8 and while in a coma that lasted weeks he wasn't expected to walk again.

To win the TDF you need to be a freak of nature daredevil who has a great team, has excellent luck and most of all is just about the toughest man alive.

Yeah there is tonight stage into Paris. Protocol and tradition dictates that it isn't a race as such, more a parade if the champions in each category. Thee will be no breakaway, there will be champagne drunk and once they get to Paris they will ride like crazy for the few laps around the champes (spelling?) And the big sprinters like Cavendish will all want to win the final stage.

Was thinking the same. Just been seeing bits and pieces of it due to work. Is it just that he has an uncatchable lead?

Basically, the only way he can lose is if he crashes and can't physically get back and ride to Paris. If he has any trouble needs to stop for any reason, where the peleton will take time away from him they will literally stop riding and wait.

Ridiculous comment tiger07, the Tour is one of the toughest events around. Superb ride by Cadel last night, he absolutely smashed the time trial.

Bit of trolling going on there. Have been watching the tour since i can remember and in retrospect Cadel has been in control throughout the whole race except for when Schlek went miles early on the Galibier stage and then when his bike was stuffing up the next day. Former mountain bike world cup winner, former road race world champ and now Tour de France champ. bring on London 2012.
