Congrats to Schiavone though, she smashed Sammy tonight and I reckon the scoreline flatters her (Sam).

Been a great tournament for her though, if she can get back to a final Im sure she'll be all the better for this experience.

Bad luck to Sammy, but a great tournament all up for her. She's done the country proud and never gave up.

That was a shocking peformance by Sam. I wish now she hadn't gone that far to lose in such a shocking fashion.

Agreed CP, scoreline flatters her, she was shocking.

Full of nerves, was waiting for them to leave her but they never did, if anything they got worse. So defensive out there.

Shocker.

Been a great tournament for her :?

She beats 3 of the best players in the world then chokes in a final against a player she should beat even if she had been out all night with Ben Cousins. I feel sorry for Sam as she really **** that up and will now have to live the rest of her life knowing that she played the tournament of her life only to fall at the final hurdle when she'd done all the hard work. No way known the Italian would have gone through Henin, Williams or Jankovic. Sam would be kicking herself and rightly so.

When she beat players like Henin, Williams and Jankovic she did herself and her country proud. Today she really let herself down badly. Didn't let the country down as she tried her best but she let herself down as she allowed the occassion to overwhelm her. Such a shame as realistically she probably will never get the chance again let alone against a player she is so much better than.

Making a Gran Slam final, particularly your first, isn't a great performance, especially getting past the names you mentioned?? :?

Yeah she would be kicking herself, but it's not all doom and gloom after one loss
