Well I went in the early 90's and have started following the MLB big time, so I thought I'd do the right thing by the sport and go and support it. I didn't know about Wed night till today, so I'm not going to go, but I will be there at 4pm for the double header on the 14th. Should be good fun. Does anyone know what the admission price is?

is it the claxton shield (state matches/tournaments) ? or rather are they trying to bring back a national competition (like the adelaide giants etc)..................i remember the 80's (off course it goes back to at least the 50's) when the were 3 local games on every wednesday night (price $3.00) & the line up would be something like this

glenelg tigers v woodville senators

kensington cardinals v sturt saints

port magpies v redsox (sorry i can't recall their name)

it was always a great nights entertainment, especially with the larger than life characters like barry barhnett, the alexander brothers & greg elkson just to name a few

how many baseballs we used to get over the years from home runs was amazing
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

A good friend of mine is the media lisaon officer for this competition...

He has advised me it is $10 per person for admission...

Looking forward to going, seeing as though it is only down the road from home for me...

spoke to a mate of mine that plays Div. 1, and he mentioned that the MLB has forked out big time (something around $70m) to get a national comp back up and running here. he didnt know much about it though.

South Australia kicked off the Claxton Shield campaign with a very impressive win over Queensland...

The boys got up 7-0, with a great 2-0 start in the opening dig, then piling on a few runs late in the game...

Great to have baseball back at the Parade, good atmosphere and well over 1000 people there...

Higlight for me was meeting Pat Kelly and seeing his massive diamond studded NY Yankees Championship Ring...

TALK ABOUT BLING BLING !!!

South Australia continued their great form from last night, defeating Queensland 6-5 in an extra inning in the first game of their double header at the Parade this afternoon and this evening.

From what I was told of the 2nd game, we were 2-0 up at the bottom of the 3rd inning. Sounds like the SA boys have got a good team and will be very competitive this Claxton Shield. I think the last time they won it was the mid 80's.

also won game 3 very easy. 9-0. the side is looking very good but queensland were very young. looked like an underage team they sent. Young beard from act was clocked last night in mid 90mph, big future in front of him.
