Seen bucket loads of small bream in the port.... ST's slowed down a bit... should hope start again soon... mid april

Heading to Stansbury in a 1.5 weeks for a week. Targeting whiting/mullet/gar/tommies/squid... should be good!!

I caught the biggest bream I have ever seen, some 20 odd years ago,

Opposite the Leg Trap Hotel.

There was a park there but I don't know if it's there now.

I don't think it's called The Leg Trap Anymore....

I hope this helps you my friend.

20 years ago......

Your going to need a crane to lift em out....

Re: FISHING

Postby Mickyj » Mon Mar 23, 2009 5:38 pm

Day one of my holidays got to West lakes a bit late .But I wandered down the right side of the lake couple of casts of my fly . I thought the wind is coming from the wrong direction .
Wandered down the left side of the lake nothing by the dragon club .Wandered a bit further around had a chat .Nothing .
Then I noticed a few jumps and circles .I cast amongst them nothing except a follow of something that could have been a tiny Snook.
Continued along my way stopped at some steps nothing .
I looked at my watch I was not allowed home before noon the wife had something on.It was 11.15 and I thought bait fish flies are only getting with the exception of the tiny snook mini me Bream .Why not try a foam surface fly the wind was increasing and plenty of small waves. Its a bit late by why not .
I had more action in five minutes with a piece of builders foam on a hook than I did the two hours before.Fish jumping out the water and I'm thinking its after 11 its to late .Almost had a 30cm plus Bream but as it was about to take the fly it spooked :(
But I continued on and dropped 2 Bream at 11.45 then checked my fly.Noticed the point on my hook was stuffed and changed my fly but that was it no more fish.
I headed home if I do any good tomorrow I'll post pictures in a new topic .

Cheers
