Not really.

4 rushes for 13 yards and 1 reception for 7 isn't really anything to write home about.

Not knocking him, but if this is what he produces every week, he won't be on the roster next season.

I am. I liked his side step on the reception.

All Im saying is the NFL is very cut throat, and those numbers need to get better for him to keep his spot.

If it stays the same, he won't survive.

Right now he's the 4th back on a shit roster. He'd be the first cut if they need to free up a roster spot.

Nah the publicity alone would keep him on the roster for the season

I dunno. They've made their jersey sales already.

American press already suggesting he will replace Mike Davis on the inactive list next week.

He's very much on the fringe.

I'm not bagging the bloke. Im just being realistic, which is not a common theme in the Australian media.

To be honest he's lucky he got another go after the fumble.
Some coaches would've sat him for rest of game

Ok, I'm no 49s fan but he's a kid in this game, and he's our kid
The commentators were saying the wind was swirling and, no doubt, he misjudged the fall of the ball, but FFS, I'm a Dallas fan and seen blokes earning USD10m pa do worse
How many AFL players would have caught that at their feet knowing they were about to get clobbered?
I'll give him a break today - his sidestep was good later

LaMichael James just got cut by the Dolphins for fumbling a kickoff return.

Wasn't bagging the guy out Jimmy, just stating a simple fact!

I hope hayne has a ripping year and has a few games where he dominates I really do
I don't like the niners at all, but I want him to be their shining light of the year.

what I cant stand is people who have no idea reporting on the game referring to Hayne as "49ers star player"

The media has annoyed me more than anything, but I really do hope he doesn't get cut

This is what I wrote to a guy on the NFL Downunder FB that had similar feelings to you Jimmy about people being negative about Hayne.

I think most of the posts being perceived as "against" Hayne are from posters that do know about and follow the NFL and are annoyed that people that know nothing are grandstanding Hayne like he's conquered the NFL.

Are people forgetting that this is a professional sport, and putting yourself out there, you are inviting people to criticise every snap you play?

He put up very mediocre numbers today, and just because he's done a great and difficult thing transferring sports, it shouldnt mean he gets preferrential treatment over other guys that can walk into that side and perform better.

I hope he does do well, but the media need to leave him tonit for a year or two, or the hypes gonna kill his career.

Hes the 4th RB on a terrible roster. That makes him one of the most cuttable players in the league. The 49ers have made their money off his jersey sales, so if he keeps putting those numbers up while being under the microscope, he wont last long.

Anyone that watches Hard Knocks can see there are hundreds of guys that deserve a shot at the NFL before Hayne does.

I think I nailed it, quite frankly.

The amount of NRL fans that I know that hated NFL and called it soft coz of pads and slow and boring etc
are now saying how good it is and making comments on it left right and centre make me laugh a bit too

Yeah I used to know that if someone talked to me about the NFL, they'd know at least a little bit about it, coz they had to seek it out.

Now every c**ts an expert, and its very annoying.

Im all for growing the sport in Australia, but these people don't actually follow it. They just go by what Fox Sports have said, which lately is that Jarryd Hayne is an NFL superstar.

One headline yesterday was "Jarryd Haynes record breaking performance".

Give me a f**kin break!

Its like how melb cup week everyone is a horse expert
or when there is a big main event boxing match, everyone is a boxing expert.

this will all pass over soon when people realise they are gonna have to watch 3 hours of the game to see 3 mins of hayne

I'm no NFL expert, and I really hope Hayne succeeds.. but I've played enough Madden over my time to know he's not what Fox Sports are saying he is 8)
