Adelaide Now reporting that Adelaide United v Liverpool is almost a done deal for July next year at Adelaide Oval.

But will these professionals be able to adapt to the surface enough???

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the A-League made a ruling last season that whenever big international teams play, that they always face a combined A-League side.
I believe it was to ensure that the spoils of these contests, were shared evenly between the clubs instead of the Sydney & Melbourne franchises always cashing in.

seems fair enough. also would be pretty awesome for soccer in this state (even though Liverpool fans are unbearable at the best of times, let alone them actually playing in this state)

also shows the value of the new adelaide oval - no way would this have ever happened at footy park or the old AO

Really good game today, solid at the back and did what we needed going forward. Gombau has instilled a heap of solidarity and composure into the side and the players love him. Definately something differant about them under his tenure, hope they can give the title a real shake although I still think Viccy are the side to beat.
Fairly decent crowd but the atmosphere isnt quite what it used to be, seems to be more newbies attending and its obvious they know little about the game. Had to laugh at the guy behind me who kept calling the players idiots for going backwards and couldnt understand why we didnt attack more, I reminded him a couple of times we were not at the AFL but he still didnt get it.
Hopefully these people continue to attend and eventually get educated on the game as the growing of the sport is a good thing. The standard of the A-League has picked up a notch this year

Not necessarily newbies to the game, my old man played the game for 40 years, had trials with Wolves as a youngster and coached for 10 years..

He still freaks out when the Reds pass backwards and not bomb forwards at every available opportunity....

That was just an example tonight, the guy I was speaking about was clueless. There were a lot of people there tonight with not a great understanding of the game.
As for the tactics your old man is from the tried and trusted old English play of hoof it long to the big lads up front, thats how it was for many years and what I grew up knowing and loving.
Under Gombau's style we are never going to kick teams off the park with cricket scores, his style is a pure possession game of playing keeping offs and finding the back of the net with intricate passing and the odd quick break. Will be a lot of 1-0 and 2-0 results under Pep but as long as they win im not fussed

Better end to the half, started fairly sloppy and lifeless.

Wouldnt be worried about Duff, never rated him at all. Villa is a differant story though, absolute class
