Manager sacked!

Perth Glory have sacked manager David Mitchell.

Ian Ferguson will take over and his first game as Glory manager will be against his former club North Queensland

Shame about that as Perth do have a decent squad and the longer Mitchell stayed the easier it would be for United even though the new caretaker will not be much better.

I am so glad United didn't sign this clown and got Rini instead.

Wasnt Ferguson the reason Fowler moved to Perth in the first place...?

Yes he did, lads he hasnt been sacked he just moved up to football director, which is what he wanted to do anyway, he only took on the coaching role cause at the time perth where up shit creek without a paddle and there was no-one else and he has turned them around.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Well what a big week its been in football....

The writing had been on the wall but is always a shock when it actually happens.

Think that the new role is better suited to Mitch than the day to day managing of the team, has a knack of signing decent players to the club, but not always motivating and getting the best of them on the pitch.. And having a few favourites who never get dropped probably didnt help..

Hopefully Ferguson can make a few hard calls, blood a few young players and get us back playing decent attacking football.
Not too sure he should have been given a contract for next season aswell though, think to the end of this season and re-asses were the club is at would have been suffice.

The calls for Mitch's head have been coming from the fans for a long time, discussion on the gloryboys forum is divided on the thoughts of Fergusons ability to change things or to just keep the status quo rolling along. Time will tell with squad formation and selection over the next few games i guess.... Massive call for a "Euro" manager for the next few seasons, hopefully we can put enough results on the board to entice someone from Europe as the aussie thing hasnt seemed to work in the A-League. It did in the NSL with Mitch d'Avray when we won the title twice( Although he was left a great squad from when Bernd Stange turned Perth into the powerhouse of the NSL, basically an A-League quality team in the NSL)

Hopefully we can return to the good old days when the Glory ruled the land ;)
