It was Hawkers and Hand Solo who had the big statement wins in the first round of Hogg III action on the weekend. Hawkers topped the class romping to a 234 point victory over the hapless not so Golden Fleece while Hand Solo made a good fist of his game against un lucky Persh who carded 2166 and got done. The Cats returned to winning form after a pretty ordinary debut season in the Hogg while DREAMTEAM must have been asleep and missed the fact that matches started this week with Port for Ever not doing all that much better. Good thing we have nineteen of these games to go Hoggies!

It might be cold pies at the moment but it’s certainly hot sauce* with Skehan well and truly serving it up to round one winners Wizards Sleeves who were well short of producing any magic. Greedy Guns fired off another warning shot with another strong performance while the Cream rose to the top as Cathy smashed Persh. DREAMTEAM awoke from their round one slumber while the Trotters won in a canter. Blighty blew off the early season cobwebs while Hand Solo found that Greedy Guns were stiff opposition. Port beat North in the squeaker of the round but Hawkers are still soaring above the rest because unlike the Crows, they have no trouble beating the Cats reserves (i.e. Pigs Arsenal, REBCats reserves).

Greedy Guns has emerged as a strong premiership chance after winning a high quality match against fellow contender Cathy’s Cream over the Easter Break in Division III action. Greedy missed the deadline and it almost cost him a spot but unfortunately for his fellow Divvy III coaches, a spot was available down here and already Greedy looks a class above most in the division. The Clowns were no laughing matter as Cathy carded a decent score but ultimately fell short. Other former Division II coaches Trotters and Hawkers have also started the season well with Hawkers ending Skehan’s unbeaten run and Trotters preventing Pigs Arsenal from getting on the board. Golden Fleece pulled the wool over Port Fever to get off the bottom while Kels put in a stinker against Blighty as her team went True South. Another surprise in Divvy III is Chicken Twisties missing the starting gun but as you can see above he’s posted his excuse…ahem…reason for his piss poor start so watch out for flying Chooks, or so says Vamoski.

In a round full of close matches a couple of sleeping giants may have awakened in Hogg Division III for this year. Chicken Twisties have been a non-event so far this season but they appear to be back in town in a big way after posting a healthy 2033 to defeat the Trotters who are no slouch. Pigs Arsenal are another slow starting team that managed to score 2000 as they made light work of Blighty on the weekend. Greedy remains the biggest of the guns as they remained unbeaten after cleaning up Crow call. Cathy’s Cream got the chocolates over Hand Solo in another important match with both sides scoring strongly so far this season. Every team has won at least one match but Golden Fleece looks vulnerable after copping a nine-point loss to King Cobwebs. True North also don’t appear to enjoy the bye rounds as they copped a heavy defeat at the hands of the Killer Wombats.
