Round 1 - Teams, Trades and Discussion

Postby Q. » Sun Mar 25, 2012 12:03 am

So how'd your GWS Rookies go?

Went with a high number of GWS rookie with the idea I could make a couple of correction trades at Round 3 if I missed any gems from other teams. Had 6 GWS rookies starting and managed ~490, so hoping the premiums can strut their stuff next week.

Had Bugg and Giles on the field while Devon Smith and Cameron on the bench, pretty happy with them!

Will be using Dustin Martin as my captain in the loop hole.

Bugg- now credited with 97 points, looked the goods.
Tomlinson- 54 points, I can handle a couple of those from him. Didn't look out of place.
Hombsch (emergency)- 71 points, considering throwing my other bench player on the field to get his score.
Coniglio- 53 points- expected more.
Hoskin-Elliott- 70 points, was my roughie, don't expect too many to have him, and he acquitted himself well.
Giles- 77 points- Will skyrocket in the ruck, but if his scores improve, he might keep a berth all year.
Smith- 69 points- Handy enough effort from someone I didn't know anything about.
Nathan Wilson- 36 points. Failure.

Got 84 from Adam Goodes as well, not a bad start for the young lads though.

Had Bolton as VC, unsure whether to take the 127 and use him as Captain or have another crack at one of my premiums

Happy with Mohr's 86, but I had Shiel (34) and Smith (55) on the field with Bugg (88) and McDonald (100) on the bench. :(
But they were emergencies so might see if I can wangle them on to the field.

Had Bugg, Kennedy, McDonald, Shiel, Cameron, Smith and Giles.

Only 3 of those started, and 2 of them were not good SC wise!

Very happy with McDonald, can see him getting plenty of time early while the youngsters ease into AFL pace. Then sell sell sell!!

McDonald may be having a couple of weeks holiday after his bump on Parker ....

I got cold feet on the GWS rookies on Saturday after settling on 5 in Bugg, Coniglio, Shiel, MacDonald and Giles. I just couldn't work out which other ones to punt on and now regret not getting Kennedy who I had put in my team on Friday. I even left out the popular Devon Smith. I am worried about rotations and up and down scoring from them. Now I have to find alternative rookies this week. I probably should have started at least one more GWS rookie in hindsight.

I passed on Goodes. My two starting Swans were Malceski and Mumford who under-performed to my expectations.

 That bump had me sweating for my DT...had McDonald on the bench and had Parker on the field. Thought...you have got to be kidding me!! Parker looked ok, a couple fumbles but looks like he could be a good player fantasy footy wise.

Tell me about it, went Malceski and Mumford aswell....and Goodes! Mumford will be going nowhere though, just hoping Malceski makes some cash over the first 5-6 weeks.

Wasn't quite sure where to put this question - is it possible to have more than one side and how would one go about it?

Mumford had hugely interuppted pre season, will take a while to get into things.

I ended up going with the 4 rookie ruckmen in Giles, Redden, Stephenson and Derickx, hopefully it will provide me with a fair bit of cash and i will be able to pick up a couple of premium ruckmen at a cheaper rate from having a slower start to the year.

Ballsy. Takes some balls to win the $50K.

As mentioned else where it has enable me to have a midfield of Ablett, Muprhy, Selwood, Boyd, Thomas, Watson. Hoping having the big guns will pay dividend and any money i make i will able to spend on the defence and forward where there seems to be less premium options.

You can play in up to 5 leagues with one team, but you can have as many teams as you like, you just need a different email address for each team.
I have 4 sides, using my home, work, wife's work & hot mail address. Pretty sure that is right.

Years ago when this first started they would delete all your sides if they discovered you had more than one team to the same name hence why the multiple leagues came in. I know of some that had a home and work email address’s and lost the lot two or three games in.

I thought it was the perfect bump, but they'll pin him for leaving the ground to lay it and being reckless.
