Hogg Shield 2012 Sign Up Thread

This thread is an expression of interest for all existing and new coaches wishing to participate in the Hogg Shield for 2012, an online AFL fantasy game using SuperCoach.

Existing Coaches

Please PM me with your current email address. There is no need to reply to this thread. I need everyone’s email address so that I can send out the invites to the Hogg Leagues in February.

If you are an existing Hogg Shield coach and you don’t want to go in it next season please tell me so in this thread as I will need to fill your spot with another coach.

New Coaches

If you wish to join the Hogg Shield this season please PM me with your email address and include your 2011 in this PM if at all possible.

Changes to Hogg Shield 2012

This year there will be a new division called Hogg Champions League 2012. This league is a league that coaches from the previous leagues had to qualify for. Invitations will be sent to all of the Grand Finalists of Divisions Premier to Hogg Division VI plus the Premiers of the Bunny Bowl and Piglet Shield. The final invites will be sent to the coaches with the highest point score for the season.

After the Hogg Shield Election last year you voted that you wanted a win loss promotional system that rewarded the loyalty of coaches who have played in the competition previously. As a result all promotions and relegations will be decided by head to head win loss standings and rankings on the premiership table.

For the top two leagues it is a two up two down situation. For Division II two go up but four go down. For Division III and below it is the top four sides (i.e. Preliminary Finalists) who get promoted while the bottom four go down. New coaches will begin their journey to the top from will begin in Hogg Division VI.

Hogg Shield Divisional Structure

Leagues listed in predicted ranking order

Hogg Champions League (invitational – 1st season)
Hogg Premier League (6th season)
Hogg Division I (5th season)
Hogg Division II (4th season)
Hogg Division III (4th season)
Hogg Division IV (3rd season)
Hogg Division V (3rd season)
Hogg Division VI (new coaches – 3rd season)
Hogg Division VII (invitational/family league 2nd season) – ‘Piglet Shield’..
Hogg Division VIII (invitational -1st season) – ‘Bunny Bowl’.

This divisional structure was devised under the premise that the leagues would have 16 teams in each one although there are rumours that there might be 18 teams next year. If this is the case there will be one less league in the Hogg.

Once again I will need a few league captains this year. Anyone who doesn’t mind posting a few premiership tables and doesn’t mind posting in Hogg Shield threads I’m talking about you.

Stay tuned for invitations and more Hogg updates as the season approaches.

Regards,

REB

Greetings Hoggsters. As many of you know SuperCoach opens today. So why no invites then? Well, I'm on a cruise at the moment and P&O charge like wounded bulls for their 1995 speed 'Internet' so I'm going to have to create the leagues when I get back to Ipswich on Saturday.

If you are super keen to start organising your teams, Google up 'Fan Footy' or 'Fanplanner' to use that excellent pre-season SC tool. I'll be sending out a PM to the skippers of Hogg I, II and III so perhaps those skippers can set up your league and get your invites out before I get home.

Apologies for the unavoidable delay in service. ;)

When you sign on you can elect to join a public league for now. Then when your private league code comes in you just leave the public league you were put in when you signed up. That's if you want to start on your team now.
In between signatures .....
