Bye weeks are well known for causing all sorts of carnage so it's almost a shame when the top two teams square off during the bye weeks. This is what happened this week in Division IV when top two on the ladder and the top two scorers squared off in the match of the round. Well, the bye week caused all sorts of carnage for the normally reliable True North as their scoring died in the arse which allowed the Roosters to pounce on an important victory. The B Train didn't exactly set the house on fire either but did well enough to win their game against Frosty to keep up with the Roosters at the top.

This league has almost split in half with DA HEAT and FNQ Trotters falling off the pace and only just above a gaggle of teams trying to avoid relegation. Besides the battle at the top, the most significant change to the table occurred when the white hot cobras struck again as they smashed out a league high 1903 in the Reptile Derby against Venomous Geckoes....you'd back a snake over a Gecko anytime and that's how it turned out. Callum is dead stiff to be second last though as he is ranked 9th in the league in scoring. Magnificent Zorkos was the highest scoring Zorko of the week in a match that could prove to be a very important four points for the Zorks as they closed the RustyCage and booted them out of the top eight.

The battle for relegation hotted up as well with RobSquad and HereComeTheSuns recording important victories which have dropped the Geckoes, Woolballs and PowerFailure right in it. So one more bye round to go and I reckon at least one coach will be saying thank ****!

Division IV is really starting to sort itself out now with a couple of big wins in the last of the bye weeks that are sure to have implications on finals places. Most of the top four had their way with relegation battlers but Robsquad proved to be the exception to the rule after they upset Failed Creation who dropped to fourth spot.

Mid-table spots are up for grabs with a few teams outside the top eight hanging around a bit after cobras, Zorkos and RustyCage all got rolled. DA HEAT have gotten right back into finals contention with an invaluable win over the Cage and FNQ Trotters got the job done against Cool Frosty to stay in touch with the contenders. I haven't given Jimmy crack corn much of a wrap this season but it was another good win by Jimmy as they put fellow top eight side Magnificent Zorkos to the sword in a magical display.

Like Robsquad, Woolballs have been struggling so their win over the Venomous Geckoes was a genuine eight pointer that could send the Geckoes back to Division V which is where they belong on this season's form. The Squad and er..the Balls are bouncing in the right direction with HereComesTheSuns starting to set in the West and getting dragged down with the rest.

What a result by Failed Creation in the 14th round as they clung to their top four spot by derailing The B Train in the Division IV match of the round. This was a massive result by Creation because Jimmy crack corn is cracking the whip in 5th spot as they put a dent in DA HEAT's charge to the top eight with a high scoring win over the Tigers.

The Roosters stayed a game clear of the carnage as they smashed the Geckoes who are teetering on the brink of relegation. Callum's form has headed South faster than that of North Melbourne and he'd need to find that winning feeling again to go back to the Division he starred in two seasons ago. RustyCage found themselves back in the top eight after the Magnificent Zorkos were gallant but in the end no match for an excellent True North combination. The Zorks are out and the Cage is in which sounds a lot like something I saw at Crazy Horse many moons ago.

Division III flops cobras and FNQ Trotters recorded important wins with cobras consolidating their season and the Trotters beating up the Hooligans who will be down in Division V next season. There was a massive boilover in the Kiwi match as CoolFrosty was cool as under pressure. Frosty's narrow victory over the Krappers could be the result that keeps him up in this division with HereComesTheSuns and Robsquad both getting done. PowerFailure amped up their scoring this week and it's not too late for them to flick the switch and stay in the current league.

There are battles within battles in this Division. The battle for the top four took an unexpected turn when DA HEAT upset True North to give the inform Jimmy crack corn a real shot at the double chance. Jimmy has been stalking the top four for weeks but with Kelly's loss to my lad that gives him another team whose spot he could flog before the minor round ends. The Roosters are still looking the goods though as they smashed a gallant Woollballs and The B Train kept a rolling with a hard fought win over an inconsistent RustyCage.

The Kiwi Krappers were anything but as they smashed out a handy 2374 which was a decent old percentage booster over the wooden spooner elect Raging Hooligans. That percentage booster has just about ensured the Krappers feature in the finals. The cobras got back to their best form with an excellent score as well as the Snakes put the bite on CoolFrosty. DA HEAT as mentioned, had the big upset win and they are somehow still in the hunt for a finals spot after looking a relegation chance not so long ago. With RustyCage getting shut out the Magnificent Zorkos got their top eight spot back but it seems that no one is able to hang on to that last spot. If, as likely the cobras make the eight then that last spot is going to be keenly contested with everyone down to FNQ Trotters still a chance to snaffle it.

Then we have the relegation battle. Venomous Geckoes' season is on life support and even two more wins might not be enough to save Callum from the drop but he's a mathematical chance of surviving the drop...in other words, he's GAWN. PowerFailure's recent improved form was this week rewarded with a win and a spectacular climb up the ladder but the Failure aren't safe yet and neither are CoolFrosty, Robsquad and Woollballs. It's going to be a fight to the finish on three fronts over the next two weeks.

The red hot Roosters have wrapped up the Minor Premiership in Division IV after a massive round of SuperCoach in which the fates of some teams may have been settled. The Roosters have been rolling for some time while their nearest rivals have generally kept up with the odd hic up here and there. This time it was B Train's turn to come to stop as they lost a crucial match to Jimmy crack corn who had been shadowing the top four for many weeks until he finally sneaks in with just one minor round remaining. Failed Creation thumped the Kiwi with a massive 2440 that shows that he is ready for promotion into Division III and a double chance against Mrs Creation, True North is looming large in two weeks.

There were also some crucial results in the middle of the table. RustyCage and the Magnicent Zorkos had the chance to all but shut out DA HEAT and FNQ Trotters but Rusty's loss to the Trotters in particular could spell curtains for them. The Zorks meanwhile were upstaged by a desperate Venomous Geckoes who needed to win their last two games to have any hope of avoiding relegation. History shows it is one match down for Callum and his chances of avoiding the drop have improved with this win. DA HEAT smashed their way into the top eight which looked unlikely five or six weeks ago. DA HEAT and HereCometheSuns had a surprisingly high scoring contest and the Suns are dead stiff to get relegated a week away from racking up a losing score of 2312, but this is looking like happening as their percentage is very poor.

Jimmy crack corn and The B Train ended solid seasons with a loss but it all systems go for the mighty Roosters who claimed top spot with just two losses for the year. There will be plenty of banter in the Creation household this weekend as True North and Failed Creation square off for the rights for automatic promotion to Division III next season, remembering of course that the Preliminary Finalists are promoted in this league.

The other three teams to make the top eight are all Piglet Shield (REB family league) sides while a fourth in FNQ Trotters missed out. The Kiwi has looked a finalist all season while cobras and especially DA HEAT had to ahem warm to the task as the year went on. Of those three sides I think only the Kiwi is a chance at promotion but DA HEAT in particular has done well to scramble into the eight.

Of the also-rans there are six sides who will be back in Division IV with FNQ Trotters and Magnificent Zorkos a little unlucky not to qualify for the major round. Double Hogg Premiership winner RustyCage didn't quite get going this season and a late surge from Power Failure saved their bacon as did the last round win by Robsquad. With the exception of the Raging Hooligans who were gone weeks ago, the other relegated sides always looked a chance for the drop even though Cool Frosty in particular kept them interested but there was no great escape in this league.

There were a couple of upsets and a couple of unlucky losers as top four teams B Train were derailed and Failed Creation were bundled out in straight sets in the Division IV Semi Finals this weekend. The B Train were stiff because Jimmy crack corn rolled out a massive 2519 to win easily. B Train's 2362 would have been good enough to beat the Krappers or Failed Creation but benny must now take stock and look to rebuild next season. Failed Creation has had a top season but he's had a finals series to forget. First off he lost to the Mrs in the Quallie and then he got rolled by the Kiwi by a mere seven points to go out in straight sets.

The Semi Finals in Division III and IV are really all or nothing. Even if you can't go on and win the flag the winners of the Semis at least get the reward of promotion. For Jimmy, Division III represents the highest level he has ever reached in the Hogg while the Kiwi returns to Divvy III having slipped as low as Division V after being relegated a few years ago.

Congratulations to Roosters, True North, Jimmy corn and Kiwi Krappers on their promotions. Now, there is a premiership to be won.

It was a big week for the Kiwi who qualified for two Hogg Grand Finals (as well as his horrible Rugby team trouncing us yet again!) after he upstaged the red hot favourites Roosters in the 1st Preliminary Final. The Roosters were cock-a-hoop about gaining promotion but have little to Crow about after their spectacular collapse against the Kiwi. In the other Preliminary Final the favourite did salute and hopefully True North will clean up my Brother in law so I don't have to hear him bragging it up all Summer.

Every season seems to throw up at least one double premier and this year that team was the Kiwi Krappers who won the Piglet Shield as well as being the premier in Hogg Division IV. The Kiwi did the hard way too with four finals wins including three upset wins over the more highly fancied Failed Creation, Roostes and in the Grand Final, True North.
