Hogg Premier Round 12

darcy DTF vs GordonBlue
FOOTYLEDGENS vs The Ginger Ninjas
The Quiddities vs chardy socialists
Chicky's Crusaders vs Hawkeye
Darksiders SCE vs Poon Army
dunKsKrew vs Squeakeroos
REBCats vs Buddy&TheBoys
Brown nosed Fev vs Boxheads Beauties

Round 12 has several season defining matches in Hogg Premier with a top four dogfight between darcy DTF and GordonBlue the match of the round. Gordy has been a little off the pace in recent weeks and this match will reveal if Gordy has been playing possum or if he's genuinely on the slide. These two AFL Online rivals will be very keen to put the other's top four hopes in jeopardy in a week where REBCats and Boxhead should record wins against bottom four sides. darcy have been the better side for the majority of the year and I'm tipping him to put the heat on GordonBlue with a close victory.

The battle for the eight is heating up with Chicky's Crusaders having woken up at the same time as this week's rival Hawkeye has nodded off. The Hawk has been on the nose since his ridiculous win over me two weeks ago and this week Pup will knock Woggy out of the eight. Crusaders to win. FOOTYLEDGENS looked gone for all money a few weeks ago but over the last two years Cub has proven himself to be king of the comeback and it's on again this year. His opponent Gingernuts is in a bad way with multiple injuries (not as bad as Q man though) and the Cub will pounce and be in 8th spot come Sunday night.

Poon Army's sad year will come to a close unless he can defeat the mighty Darksiders but this doesn't look a likely scenario to me. Duncs will record a victory over Squeaky for some much needed breathing space and chardy might sneak over the line against Q Man who will be serving up more donuts than Krispy Kremes unless he makes about eight trades.

The Run Home

ROUND 13

darcy DTF vs The Ginger Ninjas
FOOTYLEDGENS vs GordonBlue
The Quiddities vs Hawkeye
Chicky's Crusaders vs chardy socialists
Darksiders SCE vs Squeakeroos
dunKsKrew vs Poon Army
REBCats vs Boxheads Beauties
Brown nosed Fev vs Buddy&TheBoys

ROUND 14

darcy DTF vs chardy socialists
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Hawkeye
The Quiddities vs GordonBlue
Chicky's Crusaders vs The Ginger Ninjas
Darksiders SCE vs Buddy&TheBoys
dunKsKrew vs Boxheads Beauties
REBCats vs Poon Army
Brown nosed Fev vs Squeakeroos

ROUND 15
darcy DTF vs Hawkeye
FOOTYLEDGENS vs chardy socialists
The Quiddities vs The Ginger Ninjas
Chicky's Crusaders vs GordonBlue
Darksiders SCE vs Boxheads Beauties
dunKsKrew vs Buddy&TheBoys
REBCats vs Squeakeroos
Brown nosed Fev vs Poon Army

1. Darksiders SCE (40)

Couldn’t get the job done against Poon Army last week but still a game clear on top with a 10-2 record. Darksiders scored well last week but the Poon remain a real wildcard on the run home to the finals. I reckon Darksiders will finish 13-2 and finish top.

2. darcy DTF (36)

darcy DTF was very solid in the win over an ailing GordonBlue and should go through undefeated from here to finish second with a 12-3 record now that he has got the hard one out of the way.

3. REBCats (36)

My REBCats don’t have a good percentage and will need to win against Boxhead's Beauties to secure a top four spot. Might get rolled by the unpredictable Poon but should finish at least 11-4 and in the top four.

4. GordonBlue (32)

The scoring has dried up for GordonBlue who all of a sudden are on the nose with an unflattering 1-4 record over their last five matches. On current form I can only see one more win against an equally out of form Hawkeye which will be good news for FOOTYLEDGENS and Chicky's Crusaders, if not for Poon Army.

5. Boxhead's Beauties (28)

The wheels have fallen off for Boxhead's Beauties who were defeated last weekend by last placed Brown Nosed Fev. On this weeks form Boxhead's Beauties have gone from top four contenders to being a side that may miss the eight. If Boxhead can’t turn it around this week they might have won their last match to replicate his form line of recent seasons.

6. Chicky's Crusaders (28)

Pup’s draw has opened up now after beating Hawkeye on the weekend. In fact Chicky's Crusaders could go all the way to fourth spot if GordonBlue and Boxhead's Beauties continue their recent formline. The Round 15 clash against GordonBlue could well be for fourth spot on the ladder.

7. dunKsKrew (28)

dunKsKrew have started to become a very consistent side with this new found consistency coming at the right time of the year. Duncs faces Poon Army and will attempt to do what Darksiders SCE could not and that is close the door on this dangerous side. dunKsKrew will play finals this year but where they finish remains a mystery. The next two matches are massive for the Krew.

8. FOOTYLEDGENS (24)

Cubby has snuck into the top eight at the expense of Hawkeye after ruling a line through The Ginger Ninjas year last weekend. In other good news for the Cub, GordonBlue all of a sudden do not look like the tough assignment it might have appeared earlier in the season. Cubby could go on and finish well in the eight with a 9-6 record.

9. Hawkeye (24)

Hawkeye will need to rebound strongly to make the eight from here. I reckon he can squeeze by The Quiddities this weekend but he’ll play for survival in the last two matches of the year. I reckon Woggy will be 7-8 by the end and out of business.

10. Poon Army (20)

Poon Army has come back from the dead to somehow remain in contention for the Hogg Shield. Hammo needs to win more game than Cubby or two more than Boxhead's Beauties and Chicky's Crusaders. Cubby is the obvious target although Boxhead's Beauties are far from safe. Poon Army have a few tough games to come though in the form of dunKsKrew and REBCats. He really wants to knock me off so the danger for him is looking to our Round 14 match forgetting that his Round 13 clash against Duncs is no walk in the park. His fate is not in his own hands.

REB’s Revised first week of Hogg Premier Finals Prediction

The big change this week is that I reckon that Chicky's Crusaders can go top four instead of GordonBlue and that Poon Army can take Boxhead's Beauties top eight spot. Predictions are based on recent form.

Qualifying Finals

Darksiders SCE vs. Chicky's Crusaders
darcy DTF vs. REBCats

Elimination Finals

dunKsKrew vs. Poon Army
GordonBlue vs. FOOTYLEDGENS

REBCats 2,156 def 2,099 Buddy&TheBoys
Brown nosed Fev 2,147 def 2,013 Boxheads Beauties

A couple of top eight sides are looking decidedly wobbly in recent weeks with GordonBlue being one of them after being smashed by darcy to record their fourth loss in five matches. Boxhead is also replicating last season's late season fade out by suffering an upset loss to last placed Brown nosed Fev in a result that could cost the Beauties a finals place.

FOOTYLEDGENS climbed over Hawkeye and Gingernuts' corpses to snaffle eighth spot and might even hang on to it as you can see from the Run home post above. Poon Army defeated Darksiders to remain alive in the competition and Buddy&TheBoys tried to ambush me but failed thanks to the overdue brilliance of Adam Goodes.

Q Man had a meritorious victory and remains an outside chance of the eight and is my tip to do a Richmond and finish ninth just to drive him crazy one more time before the year is out.

Hogg Premier Round 13

darcy DTF vs The Ginger Ninjas
FOOTYLEDGENS vs GordonBlue
The Quiddities vs Hawkeye
Chicky's Crusaders vs chardy socialists
Darksiders SCE vs Squeakeroos
dunKsKrew vs Poon Army
REBCats vs Boxheads Beauties
Brown nosed Fev vs Buddy&TheBoys

Match of the round in Hogg Premier this week is the battle for a top four spot between my REBCats and Boxhead's Beauties who have been fading fast in recent weeks. The selection news has been good for both sides so expect better scoring from both sides but after looking over the two combinations I am confident that my REBCats will record their 10th win for the season. The only other all top eight match is between GordonBlue who appear to be on the way down and FOOTYLEDGENS who appear to be moving in the other direction. Gordy has overspent in defence and looks vulnerable in other areas and the Cub has been trading hard to overcome some deficiencies in his lineup to remain a finals threat. I reckon Cub can win this one and hold his top eight spot which will leave Gordy under the pump.

High scoring Poon Army has to make every post a winner from this point on as he is running out of chances and he faces a tough challenge this week in the form of dunKsKrew who have won four out of their last five matches. I reckon that Poon is more worried about beating me next week and it is for this reason that I am selecting Duncs to defeat him this week. Poon might get his win next week but it won't help him win the Hogg. The Quiddities have a chance to sneak in if they can keep winning and if they can defeat Hawkeye this week that would be a great start. The Q Man remains a doubtful tipping prospect but Hawkeye is on the nose and Q Man may salute this week and like Montgomery Burns, will cheat death for another week.

Ginger Ninjas and Sqeakeroos will both get smashed by quality opposition this week so this gives Parko a real shot of escaping the relegation zone if he can record a win against last placed Brown Nosed Fev who have been scoring pretty well in recent matches. Even the bottom sides in this grade put up a fight so if Fevnose wins this week then this fixture could well be a relegation final preview instead of Buddy's chance to escape the drop zone. In the other game I expect Chicky's Crusaders to continue on with recent solid form with a win over chardy socialists who haven't had that much luck lately. If the chardies get some luck in Round 19 though I reckon he would take it.

Still plenty to play for in Hogg Premier for all sides.

ROUND 13

Results

REBCats 2,048 def 1,952 Boxheads Beauties
Brown nosed Fev 1,954 def 1,933 Buddy&TheBoys

No real upsets to report in Hogg Premier this week but the top three sides have now snuck away from fourth ranked GordonBlue who was beaten by FOOTYLEDGENS on the weekend. Hawkeye snuck over the line by a mere five points over the Q man in a result that keeps Woggy's season alive and Poon Army aka The Phantom the 'team who cannot die' took advantage of Duncs' donut shop to remain in the hunt for finals honours.

Things don't look quite as rosy for Buddy&TheBoys who became Brown Nosed Fev's second straight victim as Fevnose moved off the bottom to perhaps set up a rematch in the relegation final in Round 19. This result leaves chardy spoonbound but Chicky's Crusaders were less than impressive in racking up a victory that puts a bit of heat on GordonBlue as they cling to a top four spot.

For those in a position to win Hogg Premier the opportunity must be taken now as next season the league will only get tougher with the possible inclusions of Woodys Dropkick, Cover King, Hondo, Captain Who or Dutchy into the tank.

THE RUN HOME

ROUND 14
darcy DTF vs chardy socialists
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Hawkeye
The Quiddities vs GordonBlue
Chicky's Crusaders vs The Ginger Ninjas
Darksiders SCE vs Buddy&TheBoys
dunKsKrew vs Boxheads Beauties
REBCats vs Poon Army
Brown nosed Fev vs Squeakeroos

ROUND 15
darcy DTF vs Hawkeye
FOOTYLEDGENS vs chardy socialists
The Quiddities vs The Ginger Ninjas
Chicky's Crusaders vs GordonBlue
Darksiders SCE vs Boxheads Beauties
dunKsKrew vs Buddy&TheBoys
REBCats vs Squeakeroos
Brown nosed Fev vs Poon Army

1. Darksiders SCE (44)

Still looking at a 13-2 finish with a pretty soft run home. Their first final could be against an out of form side.

2. darcy DTF (40)

Like many sides, darcy DTF’s scoring has dried up a little in recent weeks but they will grow some teeth come finals time. darcy DTF has sealed a top four spot and will probably play REBCats in the first week of the finals.

3. REBCats (40)

Won the crucial match-up against Boxhead's Beauties and would have to fall over in spectacular style to miss the double chance from here, although that percentage is a worry. Faces a tough clash against Poon Army this week.

4. GordonBlue (32)

GordonBlue clings to 4th spot despite dropping their 5th game in 6 matches. However, even if GordonBlue cannot beat The Quiddities an opportunity to get back into the top four will be on as they play Chicky's Crusaders in the final round. Gordy needs to win both to make the top four and I don’t think they can.

5. Chicky's Crusaders (32)

Despite scoring poorly last week Pup has duly delivered with an eighth win over last ranked chardy socialists. Chicky's Crusaders have a winnable fixture against The Ginger Ninjas this week but the crucial match will be against GordonBlue in Round 15 for the double chance.

6. Boxhead's Beauties (28)

Boxhead's Beauties woes continued with another loss this time against the REBCats. Boxhead is running out of time to turn things around and will need to defeat dunKsKrew this weekend to make the finals. If Boxhead's Beauties cannot defeat Duncs then Darksiders SCE will put them out of the Hogg in Round 15 if Poon Army can win their last two matches.

7. dunKsKrew (28)

As soon as I talk up dunKsKrew as being consistent they promptly dropped a game although this side was hammered by some unexpected donut action that handed over the points to Poon Army last week. Duncs needs one more win to make the finals and he could do himself a big favour by beating Boxhead this week. Even if he can’t win that one he should beat Buddy&TheBoys who are rank.

8. FOOTYLEDGENS (28)

FOOTYLEDGENS defended their 8th spot with a fine win over an ailing GordonBlue but the job is not yet done for the Cub with Hawkeye and Poon Army both recording wins to keep the heat on the LEDGENS. Cubby has his destiny in his own hands though as he plays 9th ranked Hawkeye this week. If the LEDGENS get done they can still sneak back into the eight as they played last placed chardies in Round 15 while Hawkeye faces darcy DTF but Cub would prefer to knock out Woggy this week.

9. Hawkeye (28)

Hawkeye broke The Quiddities’ hearts last week with a five point win that keeps his season alive. They now face a crucial match up with FOOTYLEDGENS for a spot in the eight. This is a must win match for Hawkeye but they’ll have to win both games I think to make the finals. They could go 8-7 and miss out.

10. Poon Army (24)

Poon Army march on due to some good fortune in the match against dunKsKrew and they’ll need some more of that to defeat the REBCats . The key player for Troy this week is the JPod. While Pods remains iffy away from Cat Park he becomes a colossus at home and could score strongly against the Brisbane Lions. Hammo does not have Pods and this oversight could end his Hogg season. In other bad news for Hammo Brown Nosed Fev has turned things around in recent weeks and is not the easybeat that he was earlier in the year.

REB’s Revised first week of Hogg Premier Finals Prediction

A slight change to the order of the sides in my prediction and I still can’t find room for Hawkeye even if they do beat FOOTYLEDGENS this week unless they get their percentage over the Cub’s.

I reckon Pods can get me over the line against Poon Army so that means bye bye Troy and that Boxhead's Beauties can hang on to the eight even if they can’t beat dunKsKrew.

Qualifying Finals

Darksiders SCE vs. Chicky's Crusaders
darcy DTF vs. REBCats

Elimination Finals

dunKsKrew vs. Boxhead's Beauties
GordonBlue vs. FOOTYLEDGENS

Hogg Premier Round 14

darcy DTF vs chardy socialists
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Hawkeye
The Quiddities vs GordonBlue
Chicky's Crusaders vs The Ginger Ninjas
Darksiders SCE vs Buddy&TheBoys
dunKsKrew vs Boxheads Beauties
REBCats vs Poon Army
Brown nosed Fev vs Squeakeroos

The big match in Hogg Premier this week is the battle between 8th and 9th in FOOTYLEDGENS versus Hawkeye. Hawkeye beat the Q Man last week while FOOTYLEDGENS continued GordonBlue's recent run of outs but this match is crucial for both teams finals aspirations. Looking over the sides it looks like a certain selection has put The Cub in jeopardy here. I reckon that Woggy can swoop and sneak into the top eight with a win this week, but whether or not he can stay there is another matter.

Poon Army are remarkably still in the hunt for a top eight berth with their solid scoring and percentage but this week the Pods will beat the Poon and my REBCats will pick up the honours and the Office bragging rights as the other Ippy coach Parko has spudded it up this year with his Buddy&TheYobs combination. Several top eight sides are in free fall at the moment including GordonBlue who has lost the plot and Boxheads Beauties who look spent. I reckon Gordy can recover and beat Q Man although you can never discount the Quiddities even though the inevitable late withdrawal will stuff him up again LOL. There's no saving Boxhead though and Duncs should be able to qualify for the finals this week by adding to his woes.

Brown Nosed Fev can continue his late season resurgence with a win over Squeaky but no such revival exists for the chardy socialists, Gingernuts and Buddy&TheBoys who I expect will all be well beaten in this week's matches.

Hawkeye rejoined the top eight after securing a comfortable victory over FOOTYLEDGENS but it was at the expense of dunKsKrew who couldn’t get over the line against Boxhead's Beauties who snapped a recent losing sequence that threatened their top eight status.

In Hogg Premier the lower ranked teams have stood up in recent rounds with Brown Nosed Fev in their best Hogg form ever and chardy socialists also recording a big upset win over darcy DTF. This kind of scoring has left the door open for teams outside the top eight to sneak into the finals. Remarkably Poon Army and The Quiddities remain in contention for the Hogg Shield despite an unflattering 6-8 win/loss record. The top six sides look finals bound but no such guarantee exists for Hawkeye and FOOTYLEDGENS who must win in the final round. This Hogg is up for grabs with some less than impressive scoring in recent weeks by the main contenders.

You can even sneak into the eight. You need the following to happen

FOOTYLEDGENS to lose to chardy socialists. On last week's score that is on.
dunKsKrew to lose to Buddy&TheBoys. On last week's score that is on.
Poon to lose to Brown nosed Fev. Fevnose in excellent form and that's on as well.

Even Woggy (Hawkeye) is not safe as he has to beat Darcy.

Massive finish to the season with 11 teams still in the hunt.

Bloody tough comp this year - I've improved my average score by 200 points on the last couple of years and I'm still going to finish my usual 12th.

I know, thankfully I still have 7 trades up my sleeve. If only I could use all of them.
