16 PunknChump 1 5 11658 12140 96.03 4

The Roosters bounced back from an average round last week to top form as they smashed Ecky in the top of the table clash in Round 6 of Premier League action. The 229 point victory was quite the statement from the Chooks who remain the only unbeaten side in the league to date. Perennial Premier power Mediocre at Best is warming nicely to the task this year after Best pumped a suspect PunknChump who are starting to struggle in the top flight. It was a round of upsets as well. The REBCats have proven to be something of a bogey side for Hondo and 2024 the script repeated itself as my Swannies got the job done on the Sunday. Jobby has been a bit up and down but he had his finest game of the season this week to defeat HORNY who has been looking pretty sauve in recent weeks. It didn’t end there either; Summer of George was brilliant as they destroyed the Captain, The Willies got the jump on DAISY and Sharks also defeated Poon. FISH about the only clear favourite who got the job done against Sanctum who like Punky is fluffing their lines a bit at the moment. No more byes thank **** so all to play for.

The Premier League showed their class on the weekend as the majority of the teams in the league went on a scoring binge, enough to lift the league rank to number 7 amongst the 16 team leagues. The Chooks’ golden season continued on for another week and they skipped two games clear of the pack after they scored a massive 2478 to skittle an unlucky Inner Sanctum who went to the foot of the ladder despite scoring 2303 themselves. As awesome as the Roosters were, it was Captain Who that successfully answered his own question to top the Hogg with 2489 in a stellar performance from Groover as his side squeaked by the unluckiest team of the season to date, Mediocre who scored 2442 and got rolled. You don’t have to be dead to be stiff. It’s hard to feel sorry for a bloke that’s won premier twice though. In terms of ladder position matches Hondo got a crucial result against Ecky while HORNY got the percentage builder after Poon phoned it in this week.

Reigning premier HORNY has stood up once again over the past three weeks and they are now head the league despite some stiff competition. They’ve proven very hard to beat over the past two seasons and once again Bertie has gotten the chocolates. Hondo was his latest victim and he’s now looking a vulnerable top eight side after the 9798ers started so well this season. With 40 trades a side draws might be more of a thing this year but so perhaps the result between Ecky and the Captain was not so surprising. What was more surprising was the relatively low score. Low scoring certainly did not concern the Roosters who are still crowing despite losing top spot, Poon Army who are on the march, Sharks who are going swimmingly and PunknChump who really rock. Everyone still in the hunt, we all remember what happened last time Mediocre propped up the ladder!

16 DAISYSDUDS 3 8 0 23425 23796 98.44 12

It wasn’t a great round for the Captain and Summer of George who both had slip ups against teams outside of the top eight while the other top sides got the job done. George was stunned when the REBCats put in a rare league topping score (you’d have to be stiff surely) and the Captain has been slightly off the boil in recent weeks and after a low scoring draw last week they got rolled by Sanctum. The top eight remained the same this week but Hondo has announced himself as the vulnerable side in the top eight after they were FISH’s first victim for several rounds. All of a sudden there are a heap of challengers with their eye on that eighth spot at the moment. Of the stragglers, Mediocre got off the bottom of the ladder (comeback’s on!) with a five point win over Willies while DAISYSDUDS hit the bottom of the barrel when they got pumped by gun side and all around champion HORNY.

Top of the table HORNY’s bubble was burst in sensational style by Divvy I legends PunknChump in the boilover of the week. Punky snuck over the line by 20 points as the HORNY one stumbled to it’s first loss in some time. The Roosters and Captain Who made out like bandits this week on the back of that result as the Captain scored a vital win over the inform Jobby while the Roosters were crowing after their win against Hondo whose form is now seriously on the nose. It was an especially bad result for Hondo with all of the other teams in the middle of the ladder all collecting the four points. It wasn’t a great weekend for the stragglers with the exception of DAISYSDUDS who returned to form to fry FISH. Mediocre at Best famously came from last to the premiership a few years ago but after losing to the REBCats it’s hard to see him repeating the dose this season, even if a sixteen-team comp leaves the top eight door open a little more. Needs more from the Mediocre One!

Despite plenty of stiff opposition in this competitive league, it is starting to look like Horny Cocks Grand Final as HORNY and Roosters skipped six points clear of the pack halfway through this bye week block. In recent weeks in the Premier League third spot has been something of a poisoned chalice and last week it was Jobby’s turn to feel the heat and the Captain came a cropper as well. Out of the mists of winter comes the Summer of George. This dude was nowhere a few weeks ago but is now in the top four so they also avoid the third spot curse this week which is on Ecky. Elsewhere in the eight Poon had a rare slip up during his favourite bye weeks as Hondo once again got the drop on Hammo. Hondo appears to be something of a bogey for Poon. REBCats have dared to poke their head into the top eight after getting the best of The Willies with the late captaincy switch from Naicos to Gawn which I might modestly add was a coaching masterstroke! Meanwhile FISH and the Sharks are trying to jump off the hook and both would have enjoyed the vital wins they earned on the weekend. No one is really out of this but DAISY and Mediocre are starting to look likely unless they can pull a rabbit out of their hat, or a hare out of somewhere else…..stay tuned boppers, stay tuned.

HORNY and Roosters are the two best teams in the Hogg this year and have cleared out by eight points in the Premier League, with a growing gap to the rest of the field. The curse of third spot continued Ecky was comfortably defeated by The Willies. This week it’s inform Goerge who is in the hotseat after they ascended to the position with a narrow win over Jobby in a high scoring contest. The Captain and Poon were other top eight sides to get the job done this week with both sides consolidating their position. Poon is imagining that I am curled up in the foetal position after my loss to him which saw Hondo replace REBCats in the eight. The way I’ve been going in recent years this season is salad days by comparison and I don’t think my kitties are finished just yet. Reckon Mediocre might be saying something similar after his much needed victory and with six to play not one team is truly out of contention but the percentage belch blurted out by Sharks and Punky could prove to be very costly as they carded scores that wouldn’t have got the job done in Division V against the Premier League heavyweights.

HORNY has been kissed on the Jason in recent seasons and once again lady luck has more than smiled on our reigning premier. Bertie has gone one step closer to securing the minor premiership after a sensational one-point victory over fellow top four side Summer of George as the ‘third spot curse’ seems to have struck again. Meanwhile, main rival Roosters had an absolute Barry Crocker as they got smashed by the Captain. Now there is a one-point percentage buffer between HORNY and the Chooks so it’s advantage Bertie. Poon Army is knocking on the top four as his recent consistent form continued, proving to be far too strong for DAISY who is currently holding up the ladder. Hondo has steadied from a recent lapse to once again be climbing the ladder with Jobby looking a bit wobbly with REBCats and The Willies stalking his spot. Most teams are still in the hunt really but it’s starting to look a bit dodgy for the bottom three sides. Mediocre on five wins as well but a chance to bridge that percentage gap. FISH can’t seem to get going while Punky and the DUDS look a fair way off at this stage. We’ve now reached the part of the season where everyone has played each other once so justice would be if the current top eight remained there by the end of the minor round. Let the rematches begin!

The Captain has sunk the third place curse at last when they saluted against Hondo in last week’s Premier League action. In a week where we all expected to rack up massive scores it was a bit of a battle with scores down on the projecteds. When the popular players fall over quite often it is the top teams who suffer and this was the case last week as HORNY was beaten the Roosters copped a second straight loss. FISH kept their season alive as they rolled George and this allowed that sneaky devil Poon to snaffle George’s top four spot. Now staying there that’s the trick. GOAT got a vital win as Ecky also fell over and he got himself a bit of breathing space with the finals four weeks away. Most of the lower ranked sides managed to jag a win which left an unlucky DAISY as probably the only team in the field right now that can’t make finals. Don’t worry DAYS a few will be joining you soon.

The Run Home Round 17
This season is the closest in Premier League history. With four weeks to go till finals only DAISY can’t make the finals so this predictive post will have more mistakes than my year nine maths homework.

1. Wild HORNY Berry 48 (The Willies, REBCats, Ecky’s Fevolas, Inner Sanctum)
Reckon the HORNY one might keep the power dry in the last month and that could make him vulnerable to some of the up-and-coming teams. Don’t reckon my mob and Ecky are in that number and with the extra win on board they should finish top on percentage.

2. Roosters 44 (Summer of George, Mediocre at Best, The Willies, REBCats)
The chooks are not in good form but if they can get over George I think he wins three and falls short of HORNY on percentage. Mediocre a tough late season matchup. I reckon their percentage will cost them the minor premiership but the vital double chance is all but assured.

3. Captain Who? 42 (DAISYSDUDS, PunknChump, Poon Army, Sharks)
The Captain appears to have claimed the third spot that no one wanted. Reckon Punky and Poon might be a handful for the Captain but he should win the other two and make the top four with a match up against the Chooks in the first week.

4. Poon Army 40 (PunknChump, Inner Sanctum, Captain Who, Jobby the Goat)
Hammo has secured himself a vital one game buffer ahead of the bottom half of the eight and has been playing well in recent week. Consistent form is difficult to achieve in this league, so I reckon Poon might have a couple of bumpy weeks but finish strongly against Jobby and the Captain and hold on to the double chance.

5. Summer of George 36 (Roosters, Hondo 9798s, DAISYSDUDS, PunknChump)
Summer of George appeared to be a lock for top four but some inconsistent form sees them slip to 5th. Like Hammo, a nervous couple of weeks before back to back wins sees George through to an Elim final match up against the goat.

6. Jobby the Goat 36 (REBCats, Ecky’s Fevolas, Inner Sanctum, Poon Army)
Jobby has a nice little buffer on the chasing pack and they need it as the are the lowest scoring team in the top eight which makes them vulnerable. It’s a massive match against REBCats this week because each game gets harder from then on in. That percentage is a worry as well but he think he may just hang on.

7. Ecky’s Fevolas 34 (Inner Sanctum, Jobby the goat, Wild HORNY Berry, TEAM_FISH)
Fev is vulnerable as well and I really only like him against FISH but Ecky will be looking at the Jobby match up as a winnable one. The Fevs aren’t having their best season and I can tell because normally he flogs me and I got him this year and you can’t go around losing to the REBCats and expect to make finals.

8. Hondo 9798s 32 (Sharks, Summer of George, Mediocre at Best, The Willies)
A high scoring team that hasn’t been winning matches this season, 50-50 seems Hondo’s lot. If he continues with that he gets 10 wins which should do the trick. Hondo at his best beats anyone but at his worse the reverse is also true. This is why I can confidently pencil him for two wins…which two that’s the thing.

9. REBCats 28 (Jobby the Goat, Wild HORNY Berry, TEAM_FISH, Roosters)
Going better than usual so I reckon I can get Jobby and avenge an earlier loss to FISH. Need to beat Roosters to make the eight but I reckon I fall short there. The REBCats lost by 1 point to the Roosters before so I need the Chooks to spud it up but my shocking Sweet ruck experiment added to my plethora of injured rookie backs means I’m on the back foot and will probably be missing come finals time.

10. The Willies 28 (Wild HORNY Berry, TEAM_FISH, Roosters, Hondo 9798s)
Reckon the Willies keep their season alive, go to sleep and then win when it’s all too late to just miss out. The Willies have come good in recent weeks and have made a good fist of their first season in premier but like Hondo above, two out of four but again which two. Needs three and won’t get them I feel.

11. Inner Sanctum 28 (Ecky’s Fevola’s, Poon Army, Jobby the goat, Wild HORNY Berry)
My bogey side Sanctum could be about to upset the Premier League apple cart and clean up four existing top eight teams and qualify for the finals. Surely this bloke doesn’t only play well against me. Sanctum won’t catch George’s percentage so he should finish 6th.

12. Sharks 28 (Hondo 9798s, DAISYSDUDS, PunknChump, Roosters)
Can’t see the Golden Greek upsetting Hondo but should keep his season alive against Daisy. Then that’s it for him. Usually when I write Spiro off though he totally smashes it so I haven’t done Hondo any favours here. I’m kind of hoping Spiro does me a solid there.

13. Mediocre at Best 24 (TEAM_FISH, Roosters, Hondo 9798s, DAISYSDUDS)
I expect Mediocre’ s meteoric late season run to continue, win the early elim against FISH, clean up the top eight teams, only to get rolled by DAISY in the last round and miss out. It’s been that sort of season for him. If he were to win all four and make the finals it would rate as a bigger escape than his last premiership as he’s given up a mighty start this season.

14. TEAM_FISH 24 (Mediocre at Best, The Willies, REBCats, Ecky’s Fevolas)
You’ve gotta hand it to FISHY, he’s hanging in there. But he gets a tough match up with Mediocre this week which could seal his fate. A surprise win against Willies to open the door a bit only for two mid-table sides to close it on him just as fast. Nope.

15. PunknChump 24 (Poon Army, Captain Who?, Sharks, Summer of George)
Punky doesn’t deserve to be second last and I reckon they will prove that over the next few weeks. Like many teams chasing wins, they will get close but fall at the final hurdle against George.

The Willies have stormed into the top eight of the Premier League with three weeks to play till finals. In a sensational result, The Willies absolutely brained Hogg Shield big dog Wild HORNY Berry in a result which saw Bertie lose top spot on the ladder to his arch rivals the Roosters. The Chooks made light work of the Summer of George to leapfrog the reigning premier on the ladder. A couple of teams had shockers with top four Poon Army lucky to get away with a stinker as the Army were flogged by PunknChump. The REBCats shit themselves at the mere sight of the top eight to put in a howler against Jobby, who only just clung on for an invaluable victory which has all but secured the goat’s finals participation this year. The Captain fluffed his lines against DAISY who returned to form thanks to my tender loving care in the run home post that he was happy to read. Ecky was another coach to raise the middle digit in my direction to rack up a league high score to smash a team that yes, only plays well against me. Now it’s my turn to raise the middle digit. The Sharks and incredibly, Mediocre stayed alive (how he does it I’ll never know obviously, neither does FISH by the looks) but it was an ordinary one for Hondo who just doesn’t appear to have that winning feeling at the moment and like Jimmy Barnes years ago, he’s standing on the outside looking in. Stay tuned boppers, stay tuned….

HORNY’s quest to go back to back in the Premier League took a turn for the better as they overcome a slow start to overhaul the REBCats and leapfrog the defeated Roosters to go back to the top of the ladder. The top three should be safe for the double chance but a heap of sides are eyeing off Poon Army’s recent dodgy scoring with the hope that they could dislodge Hammo. Sharks seemed like an unlikely finalist a couple of weeks ago but here they are in the eight but with a very soft percentage which keeps all sides in it bar DUDS, which was where we were two weeks ago. The Song Remains the Same theory also applies to Mediocre at Best who, like the Monty Python Knight, is fighting on ‘it’s only a flesh wound’ cries Mediocre as they somehow continue to survive. They couldn’t could they? Surely not. Well, I’ve run out of 70’s references so it’s goodnight from me and it’s goodnight from him.

Looks like I've copped Ecky on a bad week for him with Dawson, Fisher and Nankervis all OUT.

I've only got Dawson

16 DAISYSDUDS 6 13 0 40284 40976 98.31 24

Poon Army could be five weeks away from his greatest Hogg triumph as he seeks out the Premier League/Piglet Shield double. Poony has been in good form in recent weeks and appears to have wrapped up the double chance after beating top four rival the Captain for the second time this season. HORNY and Roosters are still the teams to beat but on the eve of the war both are only just going and Hambone will be thinking they are highly gettable. If Poon wins the title this year it will be their first Premier League title since they took out the inaugural comp all the way back in 2007.

For the last double chance spot it will be the Captain or Ecky but FISH has reported that Ecky is screwed this week so the Captain looks safe. The battle for the eight took a turn when Hondo all but ended Mediocre’s quest to perform an even greater miracle than the comeback of 2022. Mediocre can still make it but his fate is out of his hands. Mediocre needs to build percentage against DAISY who scored the highest score of the round last week. He also needs a narrow win by The Willies over Hondo but I think Willies will win and win well and take that last spot in the eight. Sharks can’t be counted out but I think the Captain will get the better of Spiro and send him home. Mediocre in with a slight chance but the other teams on eight wins won’t have the percentage. Seeing as there is no relegation the battle is on to avoid the spoon. DAISYSDUDS appear to have a mortgage on the unwanted implement but REBCats are making a strong case for 16th if it happens, while DAISY gets last if it doesn’t ha ha. DAISY has a tough match against Mediocre while the REBCats have a walk in the park against Roosters. You’re going down my friend!
