Benchies

Postby Trader » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:25 pm

I must admit i've been a little out of the loop this year.
No idea who to pick on the bench in the rucks, also not sold on my forward line.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

For your rucks robbie campbell from melb will most likely play, and at 91,000 is a viable bench option imo. In all honesty your bench rucks just need to play (the one spot i take little interest in apart from my field players).

Fwds there is plenty to choose. Depends on what your strategy is but ive gone 5 premiums and 4 rookies. Ive gone with the mpp players in my fwd line like pavlich, didak, chappy (if fit) etc to fill the bye rounds. Too Serious is the "chemotherapy" of sc accoring to REB, have a browse and pick up some pointers from that.

I have serious doubts over all of the rookie rucks. I wonder whether any will even get a R1 guernsey. At this stage one of your best bets is to include one of the GCS rookie rucks, however, with them having the bye in R1 you can't be guaranteed they'll play from the start.

One from left field though, and probably hasn't been into consideration until now, but with Maxwell set to miss for an extended period of time, Keeffe may be thrown into the side to fill a KPP defensive role. Should get a good look at him in the NAB Cup GF this weekend.

My defencesive bench is all Norwood mature age recruits in Puopolo, Duigan & Lower. Duigan & Puopolo look ok in the trials.

Robbie Campbell? I reckon the new Richmond kid will go OK as a benchie....Derrickx or something like that. He is one year older and quite a few K's heavier than Zac Smith of the Gold Coast. Redden of Port looks a reasonable get as well. Our own Vardy might be a smokey as well.

Derickx third in line at Richmond though, after Graham and Vickery.

He's strong and ready to go and Graham especially is not much chop.

Graham still a better short-term option for Richmond than Derickx, so I'd be surprised to see Richmond go with all three talls in Round 1. Derickx will get a run at some point, question is when. Might be a better downgrade option.

Dont think he will play REB? Jamar will get 1st ruck obviously but i would have thought melbourne recruited him with the purpose to play.....

Anybody considering Petrie on the ruck bench or with the Joel Tippett MPP switch to ease these ruck back-up problems?

We have 4 byes we have to cover and maybe more games if there is a short term injury or suspension
In between signatures .....

Taylor made for the bench rule. They can bring on Robbie when The Russian is spent. This means limited Time on Ground which means limited points and slow market appreciation. The guy is coming back from retirement so he comes from long way back.

In the end I've gone with Josh Fraser as my number three ruck. As for Petrie and Tippett NO WAY. Petrie is coming off a double foot crumble and Tippett is yet to grace the ground and is behind Mitch Clark, Luenberger AND Jamie Charman.
