I agree it should have been packed in back in 1997 in hindsight.

Some bands recover from the loss of the lead singer but in the case of AC-DC it happened when the band was primed to be the next big thing rather than being 7 years post being the big thing.

Saw them last Thursday and thought they were heaps better than Matchbox 20 ... not that I'm much of a fan of either.

Ciaran Cribbin did a pretty good job, but the rest of the bad are definitely too old to be wearing leather pants.

Often go to concerts of bands you don't like?

I first saw Ciaran at the Mannum concert back in January and thought he was the worst of the leads they've had since Michael died, has no where near the range that any of the others did which spoilt some of their songs I reckon.

Last week was about the 2nd concert of theirs I've missed since 1984 - and now I'm crushed and full of regret because I know I'll never see them live again :(

Saw them at the Hahndof Mill only a few months ago. My mate won a free ticket.

It was OK. Not out of this world but the singer Ciaran Cribbin did a pretty good job. They actually played a few new tracks they recorded for a new album coming out so I was a little suprised they called it a day. Kirk Pengelly got the sh1ts up as people were recording the new songs on their phones. I had to laugh as I thought "Kirk, you need all the publicity you can get mate!".

Gary Gary Beers on Bass was not performing on the night so you really had the Farris brothers and Kirk of the original band.

I think they thought they could do a AC/DC or Van Halen but they could never pull that off.

Too me, I loved INXS up to the Kick album (IMO a massive sell out!!) but after that it went all downhill IMO. Michael in the band or not.

Still, The Swing (1984) is an utter masterpiece of work!! :)

INXS 'selling out'. Now there's an amusing concept. Kick shits on the Swing.

Saw them at the Clipsal this year and thought they were quite good, though no band lasts 30 years if they can't put on a live show no matter how good their albums are

Kick was a masterpiece of commerical rock which there is certainly a place for if done well, though it tails off towards the end with some fluff IMO (Tiny Daggers, Calling All Nations, Wild Life are particularly weak). These days the only ones I come back to are The Swing and Shabooh Shoobah. And Max Q of course ;)

Agree with LL. Kick had a heap of filler on the album. (Tiny Daggers, Calling All Nations, Wildlife, The Loved One....yes, another bloody cover!!, Mediate is just a take off of Bob Dylans "Subterranean Homesick Blues").

Even the band admit to "rushing" the sessions at the end.

Where as The Swing I could never skip a track. Just flows so well from start to finish. I "thrashed" The Swing as a kid on tape :D

Personal opinion I guess REB.

Very flattered to be confused with LL ;)
Not so sure LL would feel the same!

Love Mediate, wish INXS went more in an electronic direction like this instead of increasingly generic pub rock. Perhaps it's why I still like the Swing. The electronic side of things was really prominent, and I always did like Nick Launay's production. The Dekadance remix tape that came out at this time was cool too. But of course they went the opposite way with the next album.

REB, y'sure you don't mean Farnsey's Burn For You? ;)

INXS stopped for me at Shabooh Shoobah. Saw that tour at Thebby and it was pretty amazing.
Loved Max Q but I'm a big fan of Ollie Olsen anyway.
