Wouldn't have been that hard to replace the name Khe Sanh with something else, either. Hmmmm....Long Tan?

Exactly, and being historically accurate at the same time. I like your thinking.

Always enjoy Walla Walla on that album too.

One, an two, an' three, an four
An one, an two, an three, an four
An one, an two, an three, an four
An one, an two, an three, an four!

Great song!

Bloody oath.

Most of their stuff is pretty fun to play, although they lost me after Americana. In my opinion, Ixnay On The Hombre was their masterpiece.

Americana is my favourite album. Was a little disappointed that they didn't play Walla Walla at Soundwave, would of loved to hear to intro live.

Americana and Smash are my faves.
Ixnay was when I was a teenager, but after revisiting it as an adult, nowhere near as good as I remember.
Still some crackers on there, like Meaning of Life.

Another great song, my favourite off Inxay is I Choose.

All I Want, Cool To Hate, Gone Away, Way Down The Line and Leave It Behind are all brilliant too.

I remember hating Americana with a passion when it came out, because it was so unashamedly pop to my ears. But after giving it a few years, it became my second favourite album of theirs. Smash didn't grab me the way Ixnay did, but there are a few good songs on there, like Gotta Get Away, Bad Habit and What Happened To You?

I thank you for that one LL. I reckon you posted a You Tube clip of it in one of these threads or polls, I knew the song but didn't know the band. Now it's a regular in my playlists

This was done recently on a forum thread over on rateyourmusic.com, with the added rule of having to justify each choice with at least one sentence. I had a crack and came up with this list (minus the justifications). No particular order, and I note that if I repeated the exercise today I would come up with some different songs.

The The - This Is The Day
Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch
Regina Spektor - Folding Chair
The Beatles - A Day In The Life
The Octopus Project - Music Is Happiness
The Waterboys - This Is The Sea
Hunters & Collectors - Talking To A Stranger (album version)
Pulp - Countdown (extended single version)
Marianne Faithfull - Why D'ya Do It?
Severed Heads - Hot With Fleas
Clowns OUT. Smears OUT. RESIST THE OCCUPATION.
