Bit Of 80s Escapism on Sat nite at the Thebby

Chantoozies, Wang Chang and Banarama

Best concert I've been too? Nup but it was a bloody good night with friends from Alice who'd come down for the show.

Chantoozies weren't bad and I can still watch Alleys and Totti's voices for hours....

Wang Chung surprised me and their version of Cutting Crews "Died in your arms tonight" which was awesome and they left the crowd wanting more with "Everbody Wang Chung Tonight"

Bananarama played all their hits and brought the best out of some of the audience who had obviously been camping* out for this concert, well the bloke (open to debate) who was doing his best "I've let myself go and should still be in rehab George Dowd" impersonation had been...

No Siobahn but Keren and Sara are still all good allbeit minus the 80s hairstyles!

Got to admit their "Robert Den Niro's Waiting" from their pre SAW days is a bloody good song and had the crowd going.

As i said not the best concert I've been too but was a trip abck in time of memories and for a while everything was 1986 all over again which cause I was wearing my Balmain Tigers jersey wasn't the best year given the extra time loss to Cantebury in the Minor Semi Final...

Voice was scratchy the next morning from singing but my sides hurt from the laughs and catch up with good NT friends
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Great party-dance song, very very underrated.

I went to this as well and I had a blast, after going through some hard times at work atm it was just great to go out and have some fun for awhile.

I been a Bananarama fan since the eighties and they put on a good show and I was worn out as that was the first time I got up and danced for about 15 years. Andrew Ridgeley is a lucky man, living on a farm with the brunette, Keren.

The guitarist and singer from Wang Chung (former singer from cutting Crew) was great and did some really good guitar solos. I didn't know what to expect but really enjoyed it.

It was also great to see the Chantoozies again and local girl, Ally Fowler, has aged very well (unlike me)

I certainly had fun that night, I Wang Chunged that night

Pseudo Echo were surprisingly very good! I miss the 80s drum pads and keytars!
Lead singer still has the same voice but looks a bit different as he is now bald with a Ned Kelly beard.

Well, after all of this nostalgia, I'm off to see Courtney Barnett and Ouch My Face, along with a heap of other bands from the Milk Records label tonight.
Very keen to see Courtney Barnett - who, I know, is not to everyone's taste.
I saw Ouch My Face last year and I loved their agitpop brand of shouty music.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

The Living End :

After a five year break between records (ie. too damn long), The Living End are back with a new album and a set of tour dates to show it off.

Following on from 2011's ARIA winning The End Is Just The Beginning Repeating, the Aussie rock mainstays' upcoming seventh album is called Shift (out 13 May via Dew Process/UMA) and the lead single 'Keep On Running' presents just that: a definite shift in sound.

Rather than being built on guitar shredding and a punky tempo, the new track uses a string section and acoustic strumming to get its passionate point across. Frontman Chris Cheney describes it as one of the most powerful and personal songs of The Living End's career.

"We all have moments where life is getting the better of us, but that's when you draw strength and come out the other side stronger" Cheney says.

A month after dropping Shift, The Living End will head out on an album tour. You'll catch them in the nation's capital cities through June along with special guests Bad//Dreems and 131's.

Tickets are on sale 24 March and you can hit up the band's website for further info.

Friday 10 June - The Tivoli, Brisbane

Saturday 11 June - The Enmore Theatre, Sydney

Thursday 16 June - The Astor, Perth

Friday 24 June - The Forum, Melbourne

Saturday 25 June - The Gov, Adelaide
