Purchasing Equipment

Footballs.
Last night discussing equipment with property stewart and treasurer and was shocked at the cost of footys.
1 Sherrin v Burley (what is the better footy)
2 We can get Sherrin for $69.00 Burley for $30.00
3 Them prices are for bulk buy
4 We purchase about 60 @ a time (training only not match footy's)
5 What happens to the footys at SANFL AFL clubs?
So if you know of better pricing or can clubs get together and purchase??

1 - It is not even an arguement, I would only kick Burley if it was a tumble punt down rough bitumen into a bonfire.
2 - Pretty much the same price you will find that you will be able to get the balls for, for some bright idea we had Burley basketballs at training for a while, worst idea ever.
3 - Are you gloating cos you can afford to buy 60 balls at a time ha ha
4 - As above
5 - We did get donated some old South Adelaide training balls at one stage and they came in quite handy for before the game warm ups and what not, I know that they do donate to the lesser fortunate clubs that cannot afford 60 at one time

So yes Burley is an extreme waste of money for longevity of the ball and your players will not be swearing when they realise you skimped out on buying Sherrins.

That's an interesting topic you've touched on. The GSFL still are in contract(I think) with Ross Faulkner who make a pretty good footy. Tonkin Sports store at Victor sells them at a good price to clubs. The $30 Burley is a shocker, made in India but their top quality ball is not a bad footy. To be honest, I think Sherrin need some competition because the standard of some of their footies IMO has slipped.

Why doesn't the league just buy in bulk then pass it on to the clubs?

Would be a good idea if clubs could get together on this and put in a huge order and get some form of discount. Surely ordering a few hundred footballs would demand some form of discount??

Rossy Faulkners are terrible footys. The $30 Burleys are quite ordinary aswell and are like bricks. Sherrins are the way to go, they keep their shape for longer, come of the hoof better. I dont see blokes rushing to get the brand new burley at training, but it's like seagulls fighting over a chip when the brand new bright yellow sherrins come out.....

Burleys are bloody awful! We have to play with them in the SAWFL. Hard as hell and they swing in the slightest wind.

Agreed burley= shit
sherrin= the way to go
loved the call bout fighting for the new pill at training got to love the way it comes off ya boot. Shoeboy 60 footballs sounds great as long as the bloke handing them out doesnt end up having some strange relationship with said footballs and feels as tho he is letting said footballs down by allowing those disrespectful footballers to kick them all over the park. Also you have to watch for sneaky junior team managers who seem to have a football breeding program running in thier bag 8)
