With the Sat grades now being under 15's its not hard to work out why there would not be enough numbers for an u16 sunday team.

Last year Sat/Sun there were 19 U14 teams between the 2 comps

This year there are 8 Sat u13 teams and 4 Sunday u14 teams...so in 12 months we are down by 7 teams or about 140 players.

It's all well and good to spit the numbers of 140 kids missing from last year, but you failed to recognise that none of the under 14s from last year are playing under 13s. The players that played under 14s last year are now playing under 15s. With 9 under 15 teams this is aprox 200 players. So in fact there probably are more players playing footy this year than last year given that the under 13s comp are all new players to Saturday footy.

Many are baffled....it was designed to help the weaker clubs get u13's up yet Lonsdale, Marion, Cove haven't been able to achieve this, meaning there is less teams than under the u14 model last year....and we have lost players by bring down the age groups from u18s to u17's.

Shocking design then. If they couldn't get one with 2 years of kids how the hell are they expected to get a stand alone Under 13's as well as an under 12's. Should have went Under 7, 9 and 11's.

yes there is a fresh year of kids coming through but it is an accurate reflection of how many kids where in this age bracket last year compared to 2017.

Might as well kick off the tips for this week:
Aldinga vs Porties- Cockledivers by 36
Cove vs Christies Beach- Saints by 21
Happy Valley vs Lonsdale- Vikings by 60
Morphett Vale vs Noarlunga- Shoes by 11
Reynella vs Flagstaff Hill-Bushpigs by 25

Maybe optimistic on the low margins, but hopefully there has been some off season improvement and levelling across the comp.

I'm with you afc9798 - hopefully all games within 10 goals this weekend.

Aldinga over Porties @ Shark Park
Sinners over Snakes @ Cove
Vikings to beat LionBears @ Valley
Shoes over Emus in match of the round @ Morphett Vale
Bushpigs comfortably over Wineflies @ Reynella (how come last years premiers don't get a home game in round 1?)
Bye to defeat Marion by 5 goals

Is it a 3 way race for the flag this season or will someone jump up and challenge the Shoes, Bushpigs & Emus

All good except for a couple of player's who hadn't registered despite reminders, and one Coach. Can't blame the SFL for that.

Anyone want to predict who will be top 6 making finals this year?

I reckon Flaggies, Noarlunga, Emus, Reynella, Christies and Vikings - not confident in the last 2

SFL Final 6 is different to the short lived AFL final 6 and is pretty cut throat for all teams outside the top 2. I'm pretty sure this is how it works which makes you wonder why not settle for a final 5.

Week 1 - 3 v 6 (Sat) & 4 v 5 (Sun) - both losers eliminated
Week 2 - 1 v 2 (Sat) & week 1 winners (Sun)
Week 3 - Loser 1 v 2 versus winner of other week 2 game (Sat)
Week 4 - GF between the last 2 standing

Puts a huge amount of importance on finishing in the top 2! Finish 3rd and you could be out in the first week.
