Really only Japan and Korea to fear in that lot. Iran, the Saudis and Uzbeki's can be tough on the day but most others are fairly rubbish. Would be surprised if the Thai's even get a point in the next round

Draw for the next round takes place in Malaysia in a couple of weeks

Split into 2 groups, the top 2 in each group qualify for the World Cup.

The 2 third placed teams play-off against each other over 2 legs with the winner playing the 4th placed team in CONCACAF

Really hope only 1 of Japan/Korea is drawn in our group, the rest don't faze me

I'm amazed Thailand got through - didn't just get through either, finished top of their group.
Surely a new high for them?

Aren't Leicester City owned by a Thai company. Maybe the Thai national team is channeling their success. Are they 5,000/1 to make the World Cup?

To be fair though it was the only group containing 4 sides and probably the worst group you will ever see. Iraq would be the only ones ranked inside the top 100 and they have their issues, Vietnam and Taipei would get towelled up by Adelaide United, absolute minnows. Great effort by Thailand but they will get some big touch ups in the next round

No doubt about that. But Iran are a reasonable outfit and they finished well ahead of them - three time Asian champions, albeit in the 60s/70s.
Whatever the situation is in Iran, they're no mugs.
But, definitely, Vietnam and Taipei are very, very ordinary.

They had Iraq in their group, not Iran

Apologies - Iraq are currently even more formidable than Iran, I'd have thought, despite their problems.
Remember they won the Asian title whilst at war.

Anyway, I reckon it's a good performance by Thailand, with the caveat regarding the bottom two nations you mentioned.

Iran ranked 44, Iraq 91
But yes still a good result for Thailand, I thought Iraq would of won the group and Thailand runner up

My understanding is that there is no seeding and it's a random draw so I guess it is possible

Hopefully our ranking picks up a bit with these last few results as the last time the rankings were done we were only ranked 67 which puts us 6th in Asia.
Iran were miles ahead as top Asian ranking so would think we will get 2 of Iran, Japan, Korea, UAE or the Saudi's in our group
