I thought that channel nine was gonna use gem to show other sports aswell. Instead of having the exact same thing on. Just seems a bit pointless to me havin the same thing on two channels.

i must say that 9 are doing a carp house job of broadcasting the games.
the commentating is boring and with out passion.
they need too take a leaf out of the ABC radio book who genuinely get excited about what they are calling.

All 3 are showing now live on Fox.

Thank F**k for Foxtel worth every cent even if only for the sport channels.

Do they have to change sports every 5 minutes, its annoying as f***. They have other channels available, don't they have 3 extra channels, that's not including GEM?

No point starting another thread but absolutly loving foxtels coverage so far.

Real easy to follow with every channel showing a different event.

The guide is brilliant looks something like
Live: Medal: Cycling (Womens cycling road race)

or for non medal events

Live: Canoe Slalom (mens heats 1st and 2nd runs)

Can easily tell whether it is only heats or whether gold medals are up for grabs. They follow the sport exactly to the end and then have Olympic updates in between each event finishing.

Yeah, C9 is pi55ing me off too, big time.
They took up broadcasting the TDU to promote themselves as the Olympic broadcaster.
Now during the Olympics, they are promoting future programs as well as themselves - plenty of news updates, for example.
James Brayshaw commentating the rowing? Please.

I must say I was disappointed by the coverage of the men's and women's cycling road race - the Tour de France is streets ahead with information on time gaps, chasing groups, course details etc.

Yep. At least at the last games we had SBS as an alternative, showing a lot of the team sports. This time around we get two channels of swimming heats and gymnastics (when the ads/promos aren't playing). It's just one big $$$ making exercise for C9. Have enjoyed ABC Radio's work so far though.

One of those scrolling 'tracker' things at the bottom of the screen would be useful for live scores/results from the other venues.

I didn't think C9 could be as bad as C7 re the past Olympics but so far C9 is the gold medal favourite for worst coverage. Fortunately I have Foxtel but I am in Perth for work and of course even though the Hotel has the limited Foxtel package no Olympic channels were added due the high codt of normal hotel package. The Hotel Manager told me a short time ago that Foxtel wanted an additional $5K for the 8 channels!
