Although a disappointing loss today the Boomers now play Slovenia in the Bronze Medal Game on Saturday.

Semi-Final

USA 97 (Durant 23, Booker 20, Holiday 11, Middleton 11) def Australia 78 (Mills 15, Exum 14, Landale 11)

That was an amazing effort. He looked gone in that 1500m. Will that be our only athletics medal? The girls in 1500 are fighting for bronze as two clear standouts, and boys look like will be tough the following night.

Sounds like a disappointing Olympics if so, but can’t help but think it has been one of our best for a while, so many young promising athletes, from 4th and 5th’s in field events to the track has been exciting to watch for once.
We aren’t a good T&F nation so I wasn’t expecting too much at all.
Our cycling has really fallen off the cliff which to me has been the biggest disappointment

Bring back Charlie Walsh - gee we were good then :D

First time I'd really paid much attention to the decathlon, was great to follow the past few days. Moloney looked in some strife during the run but finished well. Was watching the 7+ stream and the commentators gave fellow Aussie Dubler a lot of praise for pacing and helping Moloney.

The woman's heptathlon was equally tight for bronze, with the dutchwoman Oosterweger holding on to claim it

I tend to agree.
We do fight well out of our weight class though in most team events.

Our real bonafide gold medal chances have not delivered.

The beach volleyball girls team following on from Jim's comment above.

I think it was a surprise the girls got through to the final. US the unbackable favourites and showing why

I thought we beat Number 1 team in the world in quarters?

Agree, were never going to win that match.

Why not?

Time for darts, poker, some form of x box and Aussie rules to be included for Brisbane.

Bronze medal to Barber in the Women’s Javelin, last throw 5cm off Silver. Great effort. Other girls finished 6th and 8th.

The only Olympic thing I've watched was the Australia - Belgium hockey match. That was because our favourite neighbour came over to join us for drinks in the evening with a classy bottle of wine and wanted to watch the match with his Belgian lady friend on the phone on Whatsapp. (She'd been stuck here for months and has just gone back.)

I dug out my two old Hockey sticks and we waved them at her while Oz was in front, but she had the last laugh...

There was a brief period in the middle of the game when it was 2 - 1 in our favour but it fairly quickly became 2 - 2.

Some of these high jump girls need a bloody good feed.
One Aussie girl out at 198.
The other just cleared 2 metres. Unreal.
