Typical piss weak Saffer attitude.
DuPlessis and DeVilliers set them up for the greatest run chase ever and got them to a very winnable position only for them to choke again.
Only required 20 off 4 overs with 4 wickets remaining, DuPlessis runs himself out with 16 to get off 20 balls and then the Saffers decide to play for the draw

After day 2 the draw was $6.50. South African cricket board are broke and need the money. Such an odd finish.

Don't forget Tahir cannot bat and Morkel may not have been able to bat so one more wicket chasing the runs and they lose.

Steyn and Philander can hold a bat and are decent. They were only chasing 5 an over, could of done it in singles, the Indian bowlers were off their feet. Id hope we would have a dip if in the same position

Morkel was ready to bat

India were weak as piss too not trying to bowl SA out, bowling wide and bouncers.

India killed themselves on day 4 when they batted way too slowly.

Got to get bat on ball to get a single.

Ever when they were on offer in the 2nd to last over they weren't taken.

You have to be prepared to lose in order to win
SA had the opportunity to amass the greatest run chase of all time
They should have gone for it considering the historical circumstances
That Steyn and Philander either shut up shop, or were instructed too was a dreadfully negative attitude

Australia, I would think, would have had a go at winning with or without the glory

Sections of the crowd looked stunned, disappointed and whatever
They had a chance to be there for perhaps the greatest win in Test history
Instead they were left with what if
AND
How many of that crowd will favor going to 20/20 games as a 'result'

The scenario towards the end was
16 needed of about 20 balls one stage
3 wickets left, Philander batting exceptionally well with Steyn
Most fielders on the fence when Philly was on strike[India were prob right in setting this field]
Philly refused singles or didnt try for singles he should have taken or tried for
YOU SHOULD TRY FOR THE SINGLE, THEN WHEN THE FIELD COMES UP FOR STEYN HE MIGHT GET A SINGLE SOMEWHERE[or sneak a boundary ]
Low risk , sensible cricket, surely ?

The absurdity of it was with 4 balls left
SA needed 16 off the last 4 balls , and Steyn starts swinging like a rusty gate, better late than never, but FFS it was wayyyy toooo late

That Steyn hit a 6 last ball of the game sums up things to a degree

South Africa and India have a dodgy result, and it does sound very dodgy.
Seriously who's shocked!

Any Austraian XI would go for the win, at any level of cricket, if the scenarios above are correct.
I wonder if the ICC will investigate?

Great post! Truer words could not be spoken. It is a shame isn't it. Not the piss weak bit, but the dodgy match fixing that will cloud over every result like this for ever more. Especially when these two nations are involved.

Sorry guys I personally reckon the finish proved more that there was no chance there is match fixing involved.

Would have taken way to many people involved to make sure the game ended in a draw.

Especially when u can spot fix, less risk just as great rewards, match fixing was so 1990's lol

Most likely to piss weak nations scared of losing the first test of a series

i only really saw the last hour of the game. SA did a great job to get in a winning position but fair dinkum the last 1/2 hour was as baffiling as any game i have seen. 1 ball would be a predetermined block by the batsmen, then the next was a slog.
The crowd was understadibly baffled at the tatics
